It's possible they had a based writer for the plot but other leftist writers and storyboarders fleshed it out with the specific dialogue, references and so on.
I was meant to add here, it's just not about movies, either. Other mediums follow the similar trajectory especially games. Western games in particular tend to throw some sort of bait to the chuds in the trailers, first hours of the game and maybe throughout the game or the sequels or spinoff, they overwhelm you with subversive elements. This is why I don't ever like to give my support to the most western developers. I think this is the last time I paid full price to game like Deep Rock Galactic.
We're at a stage now where wokies are hiding woke elements in preview materials and/or denying that such elements are even woke in order to gaslight everyone into supporting the same gay content. These same leftists were loudly promoting all of this woke bullshit in our media just a few years ago. Now financial reality is hitting them in the face, so they have to pretend they aren't doing what we all clearly see them doing.
Sure. All good movies are Based (read: based in reality) by definition. They could be epic space wizard fantasies or historical recreations but for them to resonate with people, to engage, they have to mesh with how we understand reality to work.
There's a reason that there are only a handful of story outlines that exist; they reflect reality. Theoretically you could tell infinite different stories but they would all suck because audiences can tell they're nonsense.
What you see here is an attempt to make a good movie with woke garbage tacked on. Because they used a real story, their ideology is undermined because it cannot coexist with reality.
Girl boss movies are a good example. If you're living in sane times, 95% of media protagonists are men. In that context, the very occasional girl boss registers as a fun novelty. But in a political and social climate such as ours, where most protagonists in media are girl bosses, people are becoming exhausted with the constant subversion. Because it doesn't map onto our reality. 90% of real life heroes are still men.

Spree Snooter talks about this in his Ex Voto video. The reason why it works is because it's a male fantasy. It's also why said girl bosses are beautiful and wear bikini armor into battle. A competent female warrior is already a fantasy, so you might as well pile on the fanservice.
The way I've always seen it: female action heroes in media are tantamount to stolen valor. In real life, 99% of combat soldiers, firefighters, builders, etc. are men. So when media portrays half or more of these people as female, it's basically women stealing valor from men on an industrial level. And as a male viewer, you will tolerate that bullshit so long as the female character is physically and socially attractive.
The modern female hero has reneg'd on the latter condition. She takes credit for male behavior while giving us nothing pleasant in return. So there's no reason for us to tolerate the charade anymore.
And we tolerated it when it was an excuse for Hottie McThottie to cartwheel around the battlefield showing off her ass and tits, and headscissoring mooks into submission. Now that we're having insufferable fat cunty landwhales forced on us as a "feminine ideal" there's nothing.
You can, theoretically, have women as the protagonist and have a realistic story, it'll just be very different from a male led story. The women will be the underdog in any physical conflict but you could have her use other skills or abilities to pull out a victory.
Frankly, though, it's not worth even looking for this kind of diamond in the rough. The good writers have been forced out and no one will real life experience is welcome.
Any realistic fight between a man and a woman, not a pussified play fight in a McDojo but a full-on kill-or-die situation, would easily resemble RAPE. Such a scene would never get made in any mainstream movie, not in the gynocracy we live in.
