The way I've always seen it: female action heroes in media are tantamount to stolen valor. In real life, 99% of combat soldiers, firefighters, builders, etc. are men. So when media portrays half or more of these people as female, it's basically women stealing valor from men on an industrial level. And as a male viewer, you will tolerate that bullshit so long as the female character is physically and socially attractive.
The modern female hero has reneg'd on the latter condition. She takes credit for male behavior while giving us nothing pleasant in return. So there's no reason for us to tolerate the charade anymore.
