Matt spends the first part of the video making a great point about nostalgia. People are chasing the decorations and trappings of the past because they want to recapture the feeling of living in those days. The whole Mixtape shitshow is a perfect example of "game" developers who have no idea what made the 90s actually a fun time to be alive, and made their game about what they see, from their 2026 perspective, as the fashion, music, attitude, slang, and hobbies of the 90s. But Mixtape is not at all reflective of what being a teen in the 90s was actually like.

It's the same with all these TV shows from the 90s that are having revivals, or movies getting sequels that are based on things that were popular in the 90s. People are yearning for the last time it actually felt pretty good to be alive and an American in a society you had hope for. But they can't recreate that world, so they grasp at the set dressing of it. The accessories and costume of that time.

Matt goes on to speculate that when social media switched from being a place on the internet where you connected with people you knew in real life, to being a place where an algorithm served you 'content' it was designed to think you would like, it broke the monoculture.

I think he's right, but it goes well beyond that. The 90s was the last time America was still mostly White. White culture is what those nostalgic people are really yearning for. White culture and the things White culture allowed. Remember being allowed to stay out til the streetlight came on with your friends? Remember Trick or Treating on Halloween? Remember neighborhood cookouts around Independence Day? There's all sorts of memories you have if you were alive in the 90s, and you've probably noticed people just don't do them anymore. It's because those neighborhoods were still almost exclusively White. Your parents trusted you to be out late, spoke to their neighbors, organized events with them, and you made friends with kids on your street because the safety and civility of White culture allowed it.

TV shows from the 90s that are having revivals, or movies getting sequels that are based on things that were popular in the 90s.

Those are all filled to the brim with DEI slop which makes it impossible to even appeal to nostalgia for what you describe in the rest of your comment. Anyone who wants 90s nostalgia should just consume media from that time period. The entertainment industry in current year is incapable of recreating that for all the usual reasons.

Watching '90s nostalgia slop is like watching a Renaissance Faire: LARPing and anachronisms everywhere.

Even in White majority towns, can you really trust your neighbors anymore? Left wing nutjobs and sexual deviants abound. Do we trust these people around our kids even if they're White?

Also, so many of our suburbs are designed with so much sprawl and few, if any, common gathering places.

Nope. Unfortunately, the reality of being a parent is that if you are ever more than 10ft from your kids, someone is going to cause trouble. Not that you have to worry about kidnapping or that, you have to worry about Karen's that will try and "help" keep your children "safe".

A lot of people on the right want a return to the 'traditional America' of their grandparents or great grandparents generation, but have no idea that nearly all of that is illegal. It is literally a crime to be the sort of husband and father your great grandfather was.

Even a lot of these so called conservatives get outed as fucking deviants. If not actual pedos or rapists, then at least weirdo porn addicts who don't mind if their children shack up with niggers.

How accepting one is of race-mixing is one of the most reliable tells about how 'conservative' one really is.

Indeed. And there's always a curious interplay whereby people who have been battered and manipulated into indifference towards race-mixing but remain "conservative" in other aspects can often be de-converted, but it requires that they are not "bought-in" or invested, by which I mean they aren't racemixing and their family members aren't racemixing, otherwise there is too much psychological pressure against them and really they're required to double down and defend their ungodly lifestyles.

It's funny though the more right wing I became the more the word "conservative" made sense to me. You truly are trying to conserve goodness and defend that which is right and natural. Which is also why true conservatives tend to have an appreciation for nature despite how right-wingers are painted as nature-haters.

The modern fake conservative is an overweight boomer redneck whose daughter begets niglet mixlings and who dumps poison on their ugly lawn and annihilates their little micro ecosystem. He also consumes processed foods, thinks natural life and whole foods are for "libruls", and thinks "democrats are the real racists". And loves Israel of course.

white people are literally fucked figuratively and literally. outnumbered.. and somewhere between 20-50% of your white neighbors are raging loony commies.

there is no relief in sight and white people will definitely go out with a whimper and not with a bang. im east asian.. so we are next after white people are gone =.. we are "white adjacent" according to the commie lefties

The 90s was the last time America was still mostly White.

That is exactly the point I make every time one of those "80s high school" or "90s high school" videos come across my feed.

What those people all wish they still had is a overwhelmingly White society. They just won't admit it to themselves.

This also explains why I enjoyed my college years so much. It was probably the last time I was in an overwhelmingly White environment. Having an actual organic community complete with regular social gatherings...man what I wouldn't give for that healthy social dynamic to become the norm across the whole country.

Remember being allowed to stay out til the streetlight came on with your friends?

I heard that before the welfare state, people often slept outside in places like Harlem or Chicago because it was too hot to be indoors. And getting waken up by violence was not a normal thing.

Speaking of nostalgia, there's a lot of muttering on Twitter over the lack of excitement for the United States' 250th anniversary, compared to the Bicentennial in 1976. No stars-and-stripes banners everywhere, no red white and blue...

Just brown.

I'm not excited. I think the United States is over personally and has been for a while. I went from someone who enlisted in the Army during wartime and reupped twice to not even really thinking of myself as 'American' anymore, since America as it exists in my mind doesn't even exist in real life. I don't feel any allegiance to the body politic as a whole, and a big reason for it is because it's so brown. If all these blacks and Indians and Mexican and Somalis and Guatemalans and all the rest are 'American', fine. Then I'm not.

If there were another terrorist attack on New York like there was on 9/11, my response would be 95% ambivalence because those aren't my countrymen, and 5% satisfaction because they deserve it. Same if something happened in California or Minnesota or Illinois or any number of other places. At my core, I no longer see those people as my people.

making the internet easy to access and more widely available was the worst mistake ever. we got women, busy bodies and jeets all over now. the once wild west is now a sterilized dystopia. degeneracy with a morality veil over it with absolute control by globohomo. especially with AI which is keeping track of everyone and influencing people.
