This all hinges in the fact that we diverted the water from the spawning points originally with upstream diversions. If it were a natural occurrence then it would be a non issue. Also this isnt about overreach or federal entitlement or animals over humans.
The government agencies MUST follow laws and statutes, whether they want to or not. It is their sole purpose for existence. The endangered wildlife act REQUIRES them to do it. Big brain logic there. You can start with the fact that this population of fish wasn't listed as "threatened" until 1999. Then, I'm assuming here, they tried other things before proposing such a drastic course of action. Which resulted in a lawsuit, which is why you only found out about it today. The thing you have to realize is reality exists, is dynamic, and keeps chugging along even when not observed by you.
I say "population" because it's only listed as such in a handful of specific locations. The species itself is not endangered.
