I skimmed through the movie vampires kiss. I was looking for specific lines. But I kept stopping, soaking in the scenes.
It's the most Nicholas Cage, Nicholas Cage has ever Nicholas Caged. I'm shocked it was given a theatrical release. I was howling with laughter at scenes. Like I could barely process what I was seeing it was so surreal his acting choices.
he acted fairly normal and wasn't one of the leads
Eh, there are Nic Cage movies, and then there are movies with Nic Cage. This sounds more like the latter so the fact it's rubbish is neither a surprise nor really much of a point against him.
I do like some good ole Nicolas cage movies (Next is an elite film and anyone who says otherwise is wrong) so it’s a shame to hear this one sucks that bad.
Next is a far better film than it gets credit for. I have wondered at times just what the movie would look like without any of the premonition stuff, though. Just the main timeline he goes through, which considering how it ends would mean an extremely short runtime.
I think they did a solid job actually using Cage's ability in the plot, which was my main concern that the movie would use it for the inciting incident and then forget about the ability till the end of the film, so I was pleasantly surprised the movie didn't do that.
Next is based on... A short story by PK Dick! "The Golden Man".
So many PDK stories turned into decent, good or outstanding movies! He was the goat. Or close to it :>
Two of his absolute best are in limbo: UBIK and Valis. Someday...
I took the unfortunate displeasure of watching this film for three reasons back when it first came out:
Nicholas Cage
Frank Grillo
Tony Jaa
I didn't mind Alain Moussi being in the film as the lead (he was also the star of the new Kickboxer reboot that had JCVD as his trainer).
You would think with a cast like that a plot about a martial arts space hunter coming to earth to find the best fighter in a duel to the death would make for a rad low-budget B-movie, yet that's not what happened.
OP is spot on. This was the worst Nicholas Cage film by a long stretch.
It managed to be both boring and ridiculous all at once, and only had one good fight scene and that was with the guy with the staff (from what I can remember).
They somehow managed to get Nick Cage, Frank Grillo, Tony Jaa and Alain Moussi all in a movie together, and the only GOOD fight scene goes to the Predator-Power Ranger and some no-name guy with a staff? Talk about dropping the ball in the waste bin.
The plot is absolutely ridiculous and makes no sense at all, all of the characters die stupid deaths, and the ending was super lame.
The only thing I remember of Nick Cage in the film was that he tried to give a sort of low-rent Yoda meets hobo-Gandalf performance that didn't really land.
This is one of the few movies I think I gave a 1 or a 2 and deservedly so.

10/10 would recommend
I've seen a few short clips of this and it looks so bad I need to watch it.
Nice!

Nick cage needs a check sometimes

Me either. 2.9/10 on imdb so I wouldn't even waste my time. I know imdb is pozzed but still
WOW! It really is 2.9, with 11K votes!
That's some kind of terrible right there.
Jiu Jitsu, not Next, eh?

The ol Robert de Niro phone in acting project huh?
I've never even heard of it. I googled it sounds like a Temu Mortal Kombat.

rofl, it's basically 'Predator meets Mortal Kombat' only with the aesthetics of the Power Rangers.
