I’m okay with cheap or free if applied properly and manageable financially. Forcing higher initial costs to separate good and bad actors is definitive of a low trust, low functioning society. College was cheap in the until after the 70s because it was merit driven and alumni would make massive donations because the system worked. The socialists wanting free college is just low trust societies reaching the inevitable conclusion of collapse through costs.
Laugh, the only way to reduce what education costs is to get rid of the "for profit" part of it. Its not a coincidence that costs exploded in the 90's shortly after they made student debt the only piece of debt you cant bankrupt lmao. I don't know if you've ever looked but I know you're in Texas. Community college in Texas is typically really, really cheap. I'm of the opinion that everyone that is going to college at all should start at community college. They don't want to because their whole life they've been sold their education is to focus on drinking, hazing, and sex parties as some kind of moronic rite of passage.
Federal back loans are a massive scam, useless degrees are the same, both rely on taking advantage of people who should have never been there in the first place.
