If I was a conspiratorial man, I'd say that rifle is a plant to use leftist stupidity to justify a massive crackdown.
I'm half and half if it is that or if it's just a result of constant half measures creating this opportunity for criminals.
They have had justification for a massive crackdown for years. Republicans just don't want to spend the political capital on it. If it doesn't benefit Israel, they aren't going to do it, whatever "it" may be.

Eh, you don't have to spend much political capital on Israel. Most of their bills pass with near-unanimous support.
Political capital includes time. Any time spent passing X bill is time not spent for the benefit of Israel.
This is a Black Bloc tactic; abandon high visibility equipment to justify escalation when "protestors" attack it. I saw them do this exact thing at the G20 in Toronto.
Generally they'll stip the vehicle of anything useful (especially weapons) which makes me think this was a legit take down but maybe they just want to arm Leftists?
What is it about the idea of "setting traps" when nothing comes of it? People were saying the same thing about the Epstein files.
"Once the left starts begging for it they've fallen into the trap and then we release everything!" and then...nothing gets released.

Minneapolis abandoned a whole ass police precinct to rioters in 2020, and that was definitely not a trap.
That's my opinion too. I know the feds absolutely do this. Even local cops will sacrifice some cars that they know will get burned in order to control the movement of a mob.
However, government incompetence is certainly possible, and I also think that these ICE guys don't want to take these cars back with them to wherever they are sleeping.
