It's fascinating to see and I'm curious if anyone else has encountered that same phenomena where a leftist lunatic will have 1 based take on 1 thing, not because they're actually based, but almost accidentally because that 1 thing is something they care about, and they can't see the same problems as problems anywhere else.
It's been noticed before. There's a saying about exactly that
"Everyone is conservative about what he knows best."
It's the first of Robert Conquest's 3 laws, as laid our by John Derbyshire
Any organization not explicitly right-wing sooner or later becomes left-wing.
The simplest way to explain the behavior of any bureaucratic organization is to assume that it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies.
Ok sure, that 3rd law is no longer fully applicable in the new era, where they have full control of the institutions and have moved to the next stage. But that 3rd one isn't the point, it was included just for completeness.
The main Q was: Has anybody noticed this first phenomena?
The answer is yes, famously so. Here's the old saying, conquests first law, about just that.
Christianity. The one based take being the declaration that Jesus Christ is their Savior. But they have no idea who or what he actually is. They will openly say the parts that go against their worldview are wrong, while memorizing one passage that mentions love. And then they mistake love for acceptance of sin.
Which is why they think Jesus was a woke hippie. And say things like Jesus was a jew and jews allow abortion, but that whole Leviticus anti-gay people thing, he would have denied that.
It's NIMBY but for media properties. They'll gladly cheer on women and non-whites moving into your favourite series, but theirs needs to remain a little slice of white western normality, just like their gated communities.
Those redditors have their entire self worth wrapped up in how moral they are, and anything that challenges that could literally shatter them into pieces. Thinking about why Star Trek writing is crap runs up against their malignant moral righteousness, so they just refuse to even think about it, and throw magic word opprobrium at anyone who dares to point it out.
It's not just the left, it's like this with everyone. The Gell-Mann effect is not exclusive to the left either.
A good example is how conservatives will recognize that a modern technology is bad or dystopian. It could be TikTok videos, internet porn, virtual reality, surveillance tech, contraceptive pills, surrogacy, gene editing or mRNA. But contrary to your example they are critical of it not because it's something they are invested in but because they aren't and can judge it objectively from the outside. But when it comes to some something they actually like using, whether it's AI-generated images, the internet, IVF, porn or anything run by "our guy" suddenly they can't see any dystopian or serious negative consequences to these technologies and will get angry if you point out they are destroying society. The left does it too but with different technologies. Centrists, communists, anarcho-capitalists, it's all the same. Almost everyone believes whatever makes them comfortable rather than what makes sense. They will justify atrocities when it's for their benefit but call them out when done against them. We've seen this already in 2026.

Calling jesus their savior is only based if you are also a jesus enjoyer.
To everyone else, it's still cringe and gay.
Shut up faggot
What a gay response
Insisting your religion is objectively correct and good while every other is wrong and/or evil is what makes it cringe, sir.
As far as those of us with eyes to see and ears to hear are concerned, you're all deluded.
What a gay response

If you really want to cheese off trekkies, link them the clip of Roddenberry talking about how much he loved up skirting four year olds.
Yes, star trek was invented by a pedophile.
WTF? I never much cared about Star Trek so I never heard about this.

There's nothing complex about these people. Their revolution has come for them, that's all.
