"A trans woman dreams of working the coal mines — but in a town steeped in superstition and patriarchy, Carlita must fight to earn her place underground"
There was a similar movie about the oxycontin epidemic- but they took a miner and made her a lesbian female so netflix audiences would sympathize with the working class.
edit: and they took the lawyer (who actually existed) and made her black and female IIRC
There was a decent show called Coal (2011) with actual West Virginial coal miners mining coal.
It's impossible to find now probably because it showed poor white people working hard in a dangerous job just to get by which isn't convenient for their narrative of 'white privilege'. Also one-word title doesn't help.
Ah yes, the patriarchy of men getting black lung disease and shortening their lifespan by over a decade to bring a paycheck back to their families. How dare they put their wives through the emotional trauma of their husband dying fifteen years before them. Women have always been the primary victims of coal mining deaths.

Based on a true story
Only needs the BMWF adultery subplot (which is what I thought the title was referencing at first tbh)

Classic man suffers: women most affected trope!
There is a 58% chance he gets underground in the coal mines, and 42% if gets underground by offing himself from being enabled in his mental illness.
