There's no word a person can say that is so "offensive" it justifies violence. And there should be no word that some people are allowed to say, but others are not.
Its the only reason it is a story, as we have hundreds if not thousands of cases of "you called him a nigger, so he was justified" dating back quite a while. I knew a few of them growing up, it was considered "fighting words" and we all just knew it.
The legal concept of "fighting words" strikes me as dumb, or at the very least it's being flagrantly and maliciously exploited to such a degree that it needs to be sent back for review.
