The Sopranos was propaganda. It depicted weak, disorganized, and shrinking organized crime. At a time when it was anything but. They just moved from semi independent to fully government controlled.
Anyways.. yea.. Deadwood was HBO. They hated the show though and they killed it after only 2 seasons. They had to fight to get the third.
Also, having never seen The Sopranos, I am going to go out on a limb and say they painted organized crime as solely carried out by Italian immigrants and no other group.
I binged watched True Blood a year ago. I couldn't figure out what Ensign Ro was doing there. I liked it. It was interesting to watch knowing it was considered oversexualized for its time since things have gotten even more sexualized since then.
It was a long time ago since I saw it, I liked it as a whole but really didn't like the Ifrit, felt like the smoke from Lost which is a show I despise.
I never watched Lost. There are lots of shows that came out when I was either playing video games, or decided I needed to be more productive like reading. I like watching shows that are already over, because I despise cliffhangers.
Even Tiktok, I don't think is going to work. The post-2016 mass censorship did a lot of damage to the social fabric, but it certainly didn't deradicalize anyone. I suspect the censorship will be just enough to make people even madder, while still being possible to circumvent.
...and the under 30 generation don't watch ANY OF THEM except for TikTok.
Are there any iconic Current Year HBO shows that would be roughly equivalent to The Sopranos in its heyday?
I'm trying to think of other iconic HBO shows, but am getting them mixed up with AMC classics like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, etc.
Was Deadwood HBO?

They had some Jews in there, but they were not depicted as anywhere near as powerful as they actually are.
There was one jew.
He was subservient to the mob.
kek.
Deadwood is HBO and its arguably better than Sopranos
And The Wire was better than both.
