And somehow Ironmouse gets screwed over again. Henya too, and they're both coming off getting robbed blind by VShojo. Chibi also had stuff stolen/trashed by Twitch staff, her events canceled, and Twitch lying about her. More focus on that in this video from Alana. They also made Chibi show her face, which is fucking wild, especially since it was their own fault apparently for their own ID not working.

Twitch fucking hates VTubers, and their CEO is off partying with girls a third his age. Absolutely wild stuff.

At least they didn't break anyone's backs this year, I guess. That's...an improvement, I guess? Congrats, Twitch; You could have done a lot worse, I suppose...

They only let someone get assaulted, stole from people, doxxed people, and damaged their reputations.

I'm the last one to defend twitch, but could the disposal of gifts be a security thing? like, do they have a system in place where fans can give physical gifts to the streamers?

I could totally see creeps "gifting" dangerous items or items laced with something bad. if I was an event organizer, and I heard of people doing this unsolicited, I would at the very least have the items irradiated. if I didn't have the means to do so, I would have them disposed of.

That's their claim. But they also claimed they could get them to the streamers. Then threw them away in sight of the gift givers.

I agree gifts are sketchy. But, even if that was the legitimate reason, Twitch still royally fucked up.

Also, when they chucked one of the gifts in the trash and got confronted about it, they claimed it could have been a bomb.

Yeah...let that sink in. Their "bomb disposal" method was putting it in a public trash can where everyone was. They're fucking retards, no matter how you slice it.

Either have a "no gift" policy (and refuse to accept any gifts), or correctly make sure the gifts get to the recipients.

And probably the most dangerous and likely form off attack is an airtag, and that can be scanned for easily, as I understand.

People embedding AirTags in gifts and using them to find where people live is also a concern. Though you can check for that.

This actually happened to indie vtuber Camila late last year, a deranged fan AirTagged something, flew to her residence, and then started banging on the walls of her house outside to confirm it was her house and then tried to get in. I think they stole the gifts

started banging on the walls of her house

With a fucking sledgehammer or something, as I recall.

Lots of psycho weirdos out there.

Could be. But it wasn't. Because if it was, that would be a very simple matter that everyone understands and is understandable, and therefore easy to convey to the guests.

"I'm sorry, we can't accept gifts for vtubers, only fleshtubers, out of concern for airtags and tracking devices. She appreciates the thought, please post a picture of it on her discord." would resolve ANY issues related to "dangerous gifts".

Instead, they chuck it in an open nearby trash and say "It's a BOMB!" (in Chibi's case, notably NOT calling a bomb squad afterwards, just taking glee in the destruction of property), or they confirm that it WILL go to the vtuber (a verbal contract made, and Henya specifically wanted the gifts to go to her, airtag risk be damned) and then threw out everything (in Henya's case, or claimed to throw out, at least).

Which isn't exactly conducive to, you know, security or the public.

When the truth is less destructive, less invasive, and less damaging than a lie, why would they lie? The obvious answer is that that "truth" isn't the truth. They were not protecting vtubers, and denying the presents stops the Twitchcon staff and execs from stealing the gifts and claiming they were "thrown out".

asmon said they're either incompetent and let dangerous things into the con, or they're incompetent and disposing of dangerous things incorrectly

Its always been insane to me, seeing people eat stuff they received in PO boxes. But there are mail opening/screening services that could be used to check gifts before they're passed on.

Wait, what the fuck?

I heard someone tripped on stage, or something, is that this?

EDIT: Looked it up. Found this. That could have been bad, and Twitch shares some responsibility for letting this happen on their stage, but this thing is mostly on her. Glad she wasn't hurt, don't want to see anyone's skull split but, yeah, this was just retarded, honestly. Still a really bad look for Twitch, though. They're a big enough company where they should at least be protecting themselves from the optics of this. And they didn't.

EDIT 2: And this actually gets more wild, and Twitch looks more incompetent, when you take into account how their half-assed "ball pit" broke someone's back three years ago. And damaged someone else's leg, displacing their kneecap...owch. If this was a first time thing, I'd think they should still know better, but it's easier to shrug and say "shucks." But considering their history, they should not let people be running around on a slippery stage. Yeah, the more I think about this in context, the worse Twitch looks. Again, they should at the very least be protecting their own image.

I honestly think they're getting shitcanned soon either as a company or as employees by Amazon.

It's one thing to be incompetent, but now they're a legal risk too.
