As of a few days ago, 30/Sept/2025, those in the UK will find themselves unable to access Reddit's former dedicated image host. Anyone else remember when that was the original point of Imgur? Before Imgur itself forgot that and its users behaved like they were a completely dependant entiry?
Anyway,
Imgur access in the United Kingdom
From September 30, 2025, access to Imgur from the United Kingdom is no longer available. UK users will not be able to log in, view content, or upload images. Imgur content embedded on third-party sites will not display for UK users.

Part of me wonders whether the previous ties to Reddit may lead to the UK being blocked by there too, but then another part of me points out I don't care because I haven't looked at Reddit since they got rid of the compact function for browsing.

Fun fact, the KiA2 banner is hosted on Imgur so now I get a purple box with "Content not viewable in your region" instead.
Were our resident mod around this would likely be sorted relatively quick, however there's a fair chance Xmas may pass first.
If you're good with Javascript / CSS, or want to try your luck with ChatGPT and the like, you can use GreaseMonkey / TamperMonkey / VioletMonkey / whatever is compatible with your browser for a bandaid.
Here's the image for as long as these hosts keep it:
why is it not hosted on something like catbox?
I live in the US and catbox images never load for me. Anyone else have the same issue?
It's hit and miss for me. They work now. There was a time they worked on my cellular connection but not my house connection. There was also a time they didn't work on either connection.
EDIT: catbox is not working for me this morning.
Many image sharing sites like that have issues depending on IP or VPN.
Rare wins for both the UK and Imgur.
Not being able to look at the cancer that is Imgur is a win, and saying "fuck you" to the UK is a win.
Reddit is a den of trannies and pedos, you can't even use it for asking questions about videogames.
Not even an exaggeration, literally every subreddit is wall to wall fag and tranny shit. Doesn't matter what your hobby is. Cars, computers, sports, gaming. Reminds me of the greentext where the guy got kicked from a Metroid chat for talking about...Metroid, instead of a recent user's transition. (Reason: "off topic.")
Imgur being so closely tied to Reddit explains why it also went down the TDS hole in 2016.
FafPeopleHate got banned because they made fun of their fat staff and fat dog.
The Herman Cain awards were acceptable, however 🙄
I doubt this will be the last place to do this kind of thing. I have blocking UK IP address access to my web space on my to do list.
I'm doing my part!
