Everybody here probably tried to have an actual human conversation with a leftist at least once or twice in the last 10 years and figured out that once someone's infected by leftism, there's a 99% chance they're never coming back.
99% is a bit high of an estimate given that some of us started on the left, plus the whole Walk Away movement and now the recent uptick in the number of people abandoning the left in the wake of the ghoulish displays the assassination has exposed.
The demons are irredeemable, but I think it's a mistake to assume that there are no people that can be salvaged.

If they haven't walked away years ago, then they don't deserve to be salvaged. They've shown what they will approve of and prop up, even if they don't directly support, and that makes them morally repugnant all the same.
You don't get to "well I didn't think about it too hard" and "oopsie" when your side's mainstream platform was child mutilation and extreme violence. Not the shit they were doing under the radar and you were convinced was something upright, that's direct things they do.
If they haven't walked away years ago, then they don't deserve to be salvaged.
Depends on age. Plenty of dumb kids buy into the feel-good motte platitudes of leftism without understanding the reality. Most will age out of it. But if they haven't walked away and are older than 25-30, there's probably minimal hope.
Some idiot 19 year old who thinks that if we all just paid 1% more in taxes, we'd really solve all the world's problems time... they'll learn the hard way. Same as the rest of us did. They don't appreciate how evil the left is yet. They need some time outside of the conditioning chambers.
Your examples are firmly left. They disagree with the current leftist dogma on one issue. (Maybe a few more in Linehan's case).
That's actually why they pull so much hate. Someone on the far right says, "trans bad" and anyone on the left is going to disregard them completely. Someone who agrees with them on everything else? Someone they actively liked before? They react with rage because that's the biggest threat to their platform. Someone on the left may actually listen to Rowling or Linehan.
We had a guy who wanted to turn down the heat, who wanted us all to peacefully talk to each other, and they shot him in the throat.

Civilizational scale propaganda is a hell of a drug, but you and I have had this conversation before.
It's probably 95% or so if I'm honest, and the ones walking it back are too little, too late (see: JK Rowling, Graham Linehan etc.)
I'm what way has JK Rowling walked away from the left? She had always been a TERF.
