It would have been really easy and professional to just say "Patreon discounts no longer apply to OEM merchandise" or "Patreon discounts have a maximum of $100 per order for all future orders to protect our ability to make money"
I was curious so I looked more into the thread and apparently the guy who did that deal donated to their disaster relief fund presumably after seeing the complaint, so I assume it was never brought to his attention in the first place. https://x.com/pnwguerrilla/status/1961162013327200492 "Bullying works" is the response. Odd.
I don't know some seem to love it, but not being a pussy and acting like an adult are not mutually exclusive behaviors.
Look, I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt that you’re getting at arbitrage here, and I agree you can blame people for that, but this isn’t arbitrage. This is a dumb faggot crashing out because he made an oversight designing his system and can’t handle it maturely. The coupon was only available to this guy as a Patreon reward. Does that sound like a guy who was likely trying to exploit a loophole? What’s your theory of mind here? Because mine is that this guy—who, again, only gets this discount because he donates money on a monthly basis—thought something like “oh, hey, the store I like is selling a product I like. I’ll buy it. It’s nice that I get [X%] off for being a Patreon supporter!”
A good way for the store owner to have handled this is DM’ing the guy to say “look, I overlooked this, the coupon shouldn’t have worked,” and then depending on exactly how bad this is for his financial position, either eat the damages this time and fix it going forward, or try to get his Patreon member who he already knows is a loyal supporter of his to agree to something else. There is no world in which a passive aggressive meltdown where you imply you could “lose” his order but keep the money is appropriate. Nor is it appropriate to crow victory over having “bullied” your supporter into giving you more money by semi-publicly shaming him over your mistake.
Really seems like he is stirring up drama for greater impressions and reach and its working out for him.
He could have quietly changed the policy and be accountable for his own mistake. Instead blamed the customer, whines and moans about what the customer did to him.
"Bullying works". He needs to hold his frame better instead of going straight into a bitch fit about how his customer took advantage of his mistake.

Sure sounds like he designed his discount system unwisely. You can't blame a consumer for making rational decisions.
He doesn't appear to blame him in his comments but he does so in a very passive aggressive way.
Definitely not exactly the diplomatic way to approach this subject / screw up.
How much money do I have to donate to this faggot until I’m no longer jewish?
Don’t worry, you made it abundantly clear you love low trust societies, do you have your own coin clipper or are you waiting for a coupon on it?

Yea, this behavior seems very weird.
