Stupid post, but you know how in Raiders of the Lost Ark, you see his house and it's a typical, even slightly small house. Not exactly living the high life.
You'd gotta think he'd be pretty ticked off when he finds out all the other archeologists pretty much just get a permit, and have a relaxing cup of tea in between some digging where they uncover artifacts, meanwhile he's making the same amount of money, but nearly dying about a dozen times each excursion.
I'd be like "I should be living in a mansion right now....not one of these other archeologists have to be so good with a whip that they can whip the gun out of a guys hand right before he shoots you, or in good enough shape to run away from a giant 2 ton boulder....this is some bullcrap".
He kept giving all of his good loot to museums. It's hard to make much money when you just give your work away for free.
The Great Circle game makes a point that a lot of what he finds goes to the university museum where he teaches. He does get results but the world changing finds always slip through his fingers and a lot of the events that happen along the way can't be substantiated.
It’s honestly fitting for academia, it’s a liberal shithole where the “top” spout retarded things and force students to buy their books, while any active academics are shoved aside if their studies don’t fit the “narrative” so they’re left either spouting bullshit or rage quitting.
It's fake. Spielberg is a jew. Harrison Ford is a jew. Jews don't do real work. They are propagandists. Indiana Jones punches Nazis therefore Nazis must be bad.
I noticed while playing "The Great Circle" all his great century hidden finds, immediately after some pissant German private would be in the exact same spot five minutes later.
You'd think he'd be so far ahead of people he could walk to the finish line. But no, everything he discovers is instantly found by someone else.
About Indy's house, I get the impression he's barely there. He probably just got a modest house by the university he works at, and sleeps there when not on digs. Also in TGC Indy gets fired, does get rehired by Brody gives him a speech about how Indy is always ticking off the university board. He's not their favorite and they think giving him work is a favor. So they aren't keen on giving him positive actions of any kind, and probably pay him as little as possible.
Plus, he has tendencies. He's inadvertently seducing young female students. He's been in at least one relationship with a considerable age gap (Marion, who implied she was underage) and he's constantly on some exotic world relations tour. It's not much of a stretch to assume that they consider him a liability.
Yes. Harrison Ford is pedo jew. And they even wrote it into the plot in the movie
He slept with that jewess from Star wars in real life, cheating on his wife in the process
Jew pervert sleeze bags
Why do you figure that living in a mansion is desirable?
Someone else does the laundry
Seems to me like a lot of unnecessary fuss just to wash your clothes.
I don't want someone else washing my clothes any more than I want someone else raising my kids.
Can't fix stupid
Fair. It is hard for stupid people to understand that others might not want the same things they do.
Don't you have laundry to do lol
One thing I've noticed with a LOT of TV and movie protagonists is that they aren't allowed to financially prosper or develop. They'll always live in the same shitty houses, driving the same shitty cars for as long as the show or franchise goes on for.
Gets a nice house? Blown up or set on fire as part of the plot (Lethal Weapon springs to mind, even Murtaugh's boat wasn't safe).
Gets a nice car? Crashed or pushed into a river by the end of the episode. Or like in BCS, he somehow gets tired of driving a Mercedes and goes back to his Suzuki Esteem that won't start half the time.
Gets a lot of money? Stolen or set on fire or part of a police sting where it turns out it's counterfeit and actually worthless.
I can't name a single show or film series where the protag and/or his family start dirt poor (or average) and become rich fags living in mansions and driving fancy cars (apart from Fast & Furious, funnily enough). It just doesn't ever happen.
That's an interesting point, and one I hadn't thought of.
Another exception is Back to the Future. The first film, because of changes in the past, the family becomes more successful. Not living in the Hamptons successful, but going from lower middle class struggling to moderately middle class where they can afford the car Marty really wanted, the house is furnished nicely, the dad is in a job he enjoys and pays better/ no one is his boss (except maybe book publishers he has to negotiate with).
It's hard to think of much or any others, that's a good point.
Oh one other, The Mummy with Brendan Fraser. The sequel Mummy Returns sucked, but we see that they kept the wealth they got from the first movie and are now living in a mansion.
Looking at the wiki for the Mummy, apparently in the third film they had moved out, with Brendan Fraser's character leaving it to his parents to enjoy their retirement. I only watched the first 2 minutes or so of that movie before realizing it was garbage and turned it off, so I've never really counted it.
Mummy Returns isn't very good, but it still felt a little more in line with the first one. The third one felt really off right from the get go.
Ever seen James Bond's house? It's likely small. However, he has the privilege and permission to drive a tank through traffic to get someone he is chasing. He is put in lavish hotels most of his life to do insane things with insane money and gadgets.
If Dr Jones asked for a million dollars no questions asked, they would give it to him. There are people who need all sorts of clearance to actually talk to him about his life. He likely gets all flights and travel taken care of.
I knew a guy like that. He put his stuff in storage, and went to a hotel when visiting family. He was a very rich and powerful homeless guy.
