GTA V was the first one in the series I started, completed about 20% and just didn't feel motivated enough to finish, and this is coming from someone who 100%'d the original GTA 1 and 2 (yes, the top-down games), and beat the story modes in all of the other major console releases. So I can only imagine how much more of a trudge GTA VI will be.
Online was just a constant grindfest of heists that got stale quickly due to restrictive mission design (oh, you stepped on THAT curb? Mission fail, restart) and cheaters.
Some cheaters were cool (several people gave me top-end cars via various dupe glitches), some attached things like steel safes to your character so you couldn't shoot or do anything else.
I never bothered to finish the story mission. I got right up to the last mission and stopped there.
In San Andreas, when you saw a dam, you knew a mission would take you to it. In GTA V, you see a large prison and you never have reason to visit. The world was made for online. Single player was tacked on.
The design decision to make the game multiplayer-focused ruined the potential that the game could have had.
Somehow I don't think this will cut down on the amount of kids that play GTA V or GTA VI.
Having said that, for many various reasons I still don't want GTA VI.
I barely touched the last one, I've seen what Rockstar has become. Their best years are behind them now.

I am anticipating GTA6 to be a very bloated game, probably the most bloated game of all time.
My only hope is GTA6 it runs really well because that will finally prove UE5 is fucking trash.
With how long it’s been in development? I think it will have wild swings in run quality simply due to how big the game will be.
RDR2 was the beginning of the end. Gorgeous game and decent game mechanics, but the stench of woke was all over the writing
Thank you for pointing out the settings. Holy shit that was convoluted.
GTA V's file sizes got soo big after launch that it became unplayable on sata ssd's
Yeah, I just kinda... stopped playing one day back in...
Holy shit, early last year. Never looked back. Haven't really missed it.
