This is something that has way more implications than it seems.
Just about every living thing poops. Certainly every vertebrate I've ever heard of. This is not something new or some novel concept invented by the white man in the past century. It's not like their total lack of understanding of the concept of personal space or the idea of not raping everything you see.
This is truly and completely universal. Dealing with poop is something every human and by definition every GROUP of humans does and has to do.
For some reason, some groups of humans have said to themselves: "you know, poop is not just disgusting but not dealing with it makes everyone else sick, so let's keep it contained and managed as cleanly as possible."
And some groups, in the entire history of humanity, have not figured that out.
In many animals like cats and dogs its a biological urge to dig a hole, poop, and cover it. I have to assume there is a biological urge for Indians to shit on the street too at this point.
this sort of thing does happen in countries other than India
The "don't stand on the toilet" ones are even common in big cities in Japan. I saw one posted by the health department in the bathroom of an Indian restaurant.

Even higher IQ animals know to defecate in certain designated areas away from the others.

Cats for example! Unlike dogs... 🙀

Carnegie Mellon, one of the highest rated schools in the country, has signs above all the toilets not to stand on them. Think about that for a sec.
The immigration offices in Toronto have signs in every restroom extoling people not to "spray and pray" while squatting on the seat.
The staff fought for, and won, separate restrooms due to unholy conditions.
Didn't even know the claim was that these were put up in Canada. I'd find that very hard to believe. I thought it was in India itself.
But it is interesting that these posters were put up in Ghana. So this sort of thing does happen in countries other than India.
There are lots of Ghanaian Indians and moreover many Indians visiting them.
Ghanaians don't poop in the street anymore than a European would.
The board has an image of a jeet which means the problem is jeets, not necessarily the locals.

Huh, that's very weird. I'll look for them next time I'm there. Surely, they're not aimed at Japanese?
What kind of "Indians"? Up here we have to say "Natives" and "East Indians" to avoid confusion.
Ah, East Indians. They use every public space in India as a garbage dump or toilet. It is well documented.
