What federal law did that violate? Murder is a state crime.
Even if you wanted to claim that it was a hate crime... where's the evidence of it? The police who investigated don't believe there's evidence of the murder being racially motivated. Nothing in the police report says anything about it being racially motivated. None of the witnesses claim it was racially motivated.
There's literally nothing for the feds to do here.

Unironically, yes. That and how well the prosecution can stack the racial makeup of the jury. Which is why "hate crime" laws should never have been allowed in the first place.
