Because he does strikes like this to make a point, not to start some large scale campaign.
For all the talk of how he will totally start WW3 with things like this, I find it funny how so many of the people screaming about it forgot that he utterly annihilated hundreds of Russian "mercenaries" in an overwhelming display of force in Syria, and all it did was make the Russians avoid anything even tangentially related to the US in the area.
Basically if youre strong, you also need to show youre strong. Passive strength doesnt stop people from fucking with you
Yeah, and the people unwilling to acknowledge this is frankly starting to get on my nerves. It is actually what turned me off from the Isolationist types entirely: I can completely understand wanting to pull back and avoid conflict, but the world lives by the law of the jungle and you must show that you are both ready and willing to use depraved, overwhelming violence to keep people from doing anything to you. And if you refuse, you just become a doormat. And the fact none of them seem to understand this is the thing that makes them utterly noncredible as an ideology in my view, just as disconnected from the real world as Communist.
Funny how we aren't bombing the shit out of North Korea, as they have nukes and continue missile evolution while screaming about destroying America and shooting at and kidnapping citizens of two allied countries.

Which is exactly why we need to make sure we dont make that mistake again. Bill Clinton was one of our worst presidents in more ways than one.

The irony is, most lolberterians in my experience know about "peace through superior firepower" when it involves them owning guns to guard against the criminals and a tyrannical government. But then their brain breaks and they suddenly go all squishy and shrieking violet when you take it to an international place.
There's an argument that he just ended the justification for Israel's strikes. If Iran plays it cool, the bombs and missiles stop and everyone goes home.
But Trumpenyahu wants the Ayatollah out, so, yeah, not likely imo.
If that happens without putting a single American boot on the ground (outside of possible sneaky-beaky types, and those never counted), then frankly I dont see the problem.
Make Iran Persia Again. It will be better for the world overall. Then we can finally tell the Saudi's to either get with the program or we can finally kicked them to the curb and tell them to piss off.

After WW2, we took over that role.
The Ayatollah was a reaction to all the western fuckery. We actually supported him because we felt it was better than Iran going commie. When they took the embassy they found all the proof of our misdeeds and published them for the world to see. We never apologized. Then we armed Saddam and pushed him into an 8 year meatgrinder war with Iran that solidified the Ayatollah's power.
In the 90s, Iran was liberalizing again. When 9/11 happened Iran offered full support to the US (they had rebels in Afghanistan we could tap into). Then Bush 2 called them the "axis of evil."
Iran's only real crime is having stuff other people want (Oil and land). Same old story.
Cool. That was yesterday. We have seen plenty of evidence that the Iranian people are more than willing to want to get rid of the Ayatollah's by their own hand (to the point even vast swaths of the country isnt even Muslim anymore). And now that there is a president who doesnt care about them beyond "As long as you arent a threat to America, I dont care about you." this would be the perfect time to take back their own destiny. And if there are a few Green Berets helping with that to make sure, all the better.
