Quebec has enjoyed special privileges since confederation in 1867. They are guaranteed 1/3 supreme court representation, 1/4 senate representation, they have their own legal system, all federal judges in Quebec must be from Quebec, they receive billions in equalization payments, they get their own national party that represents ONLY the interests of their province. Fuck Quebec.
Hate 'em, but only because we ain't 'em. Every single province and state full of proper patriots would love to have what Quebec has.
Yes, I grudgingly agree. I think the equalization payments are disgusting though.
Quebec is not the only province that receives those, if I recall. Pretty much all of them do, except for Alberta, I think.
Québec has limited input on its immigration policy and zero control over inter-provincial population migration.
Our government gets to hypothetically pick 50%. And Canada gets to ignore it and flood the place with illegals anyway.
It used to be a teaching point in the public education system, long before Obama or wokeness or DEI, that Canada's "multiculturalism" ideology wrt newcomers was superior & more ethical than America's "melting pot".
IE. Newcomers are welcomed to Canada's magic frozen soil to instantly be bequeathed the "Canadian" title & privileges without any responsibilities, encouraged to remain unchanged in all their old world cultural ways while creating enclaves & diasporas north of the 49th.
i'm sure back then it was sold as "english, french, and the indians" but it's been perverted to mean anyone but canadians
