The legend of Zelda really doesn't work as a movie, even less so than mario. Mario at least makes a good cartoon, but the legend of Zelda is primarily about dungeons and one man badass stuff. dialogue is secondary, overarching plot is secondary. any movie that calls itself Zelda without having these elements would not feel right.
A Metroid movie in the style of Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal (a show with next to no dialogue) would actually be really cool. The problem is they would absolutely never do something like that because the average viewer's brain is addled with ADD and needs dialogue to remain interested in watching something.
It would also fail because they would need to remind you that Samus is a girl every 2 minutes, meaning the entire movie would be built around contrived reasons for her to remove her suit over and over or pull the Other M route of "need to talk about my feelings, my baby, and my unresolved daddy issues towards my commander."
other m might as well have been an attempt, given how cinematic they tried to make it. other m was also awful and nothing like Metroid other than having the main character named Samus.

imagine trying to make a Metroid movie.

Genndy may be the last creator to understand the power of silence.
Also a major reason I loved Evangelion.

Does Other M count?
