For the vast majority of people, their immediate friend group and/or social circle is very ethnically/racial homogeneous. This goes double for families, the vast vast majority of which are not interracial.
So when leftist propaganda media features perfectly curated “diverse casts” akin to a racial/gender menagerie - it shatters suspension of disbelief for most viewers. Because “one of each” is not how humans organically arrange themselves. Diversity requires coercion.
Ironically, people are way more likely to identify or relate with ethnically homogeneous media even when it is not representing their own ethnicity. That’s why Korean shows are so popular on Netflix. White peoples would rather see a coherent representation of another functional homogeneous culture - even one that is alien to their own - than a forced and dishonest representation of the nonexistent leftist ideal of “diversity”.
This worked in television and movies because those audiences are legitimately diverse. Everyone watches tv. Everyone goes to the movies (unfortunately).
Video games are a different story. Despite their comically aggressive efforts to cultivate a female player base, it’s clear that 85% or more of core gamers are male. So when you see these game reveal shows where 75% of new games feature female protagonists, and most of the protagonists in new games in established series are being genderswapped, it all appears ridiculous.
There was a 'Toss (Redpanels?) to this effect. A buffet with a dish from every country in the world would be amazing. Mixing it all up into slop would make you sick.
I was watching a movie from 2005 the other day, the complete lack of diversity was amazing. I miss it bros

Diversity of shows. Not diversity in shows. Works same in video games and manga/anime. They make it for a specific demographic and usually does well.

Males being genderswapped to female. And existing female chars redesigned to be butchy or race swapped.
Do they still?
Ian Malcom's randomly black daughter in Lost World is one of the best examples.
It's literally how "nations" worked for all of history. We have a beautiful multicultural world that the wokies want to mix up and destroy.
THEY want to make a golem.. because the "chosen" people need to create a golem that they cannot control and will ultimately destroy them.

I miss when every single person depicted as being in a position of power wasn't black, gay, female, or a combination.
I rewatched The Big Short (2015) the other night which is a fictionalized retelling of Michael Lewis' book about the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis.
The story, set in 2008 and released in 2015, is mostly Wall Street White finance bro types (presumably mostly Jewish).
But they have a Leslie Jones doppelganger sheboon as the top manager running Morgan Stanley.
Back then they had shows for each ethnic group. Diversity of shows. Not diversity in shows.
Insane isn't it? Commercials even more so. It's the kind of thing you expect from the 1950s, not just two decades past.
