For a long time, I really despised how popular k-pop is in the western culture, worst of all, it was almost unavoidable. It drove me nuts why I had to see the song and its meme, Gangnam Style. Turns out the usual suspects astroturfed the shit out of it. Same ol business as usual but the reason why they astroturfed K-pop in particular had way more nefarious reason for it.

Having watched the video all the way, it only affirmed what I believed even further but made me also confirm, the big record label executives totally knew about P diddy and pretty much share the similar penchant. kpop just copies black hiphop rap culture. That means to make kpop videos they watched the trash that was black hiphop/rap music videos and just made it slightly less trashy but its still trashy.

You don't even need to go that deep. There are k-pop coaching camps that groom kids into becoming k-pop idols. Poor families send their kids there in hopes they take them out of financial missery. K-pop idols are basically slaves to corpos because it's mostly an unregulated industry

There are cults in every country. Look at scientology or mormons. This is something they additionally inherited from the US unfortunately, but due to their general religious fervor.
