For a long time, I really despised how popular k-pop is in the western culture, worst of all, it was almost unavoidable. It drove me nuts why I had to see the song and its meme, Gangnam Style. Turns out the usual suspects astroturfed the shit out of it. Same ol business as usual but the reason why they astroturfed K-pop in particular had way more nefarious reason for it.
If you can spare 50 minutes of your time, I hope you could watch this video all the way as it discusses quite a lot of topics like symbolism as well. Having watched the video all the way, it only affirmed what I believed even further but made me also confirm, the big record label executives totally knew about P diddy and pretty much share the similar penchant. Now you know why the big tech collaborated in pushing k-pop in the west so much.
Lol no, they are industry plants. They undergo sensitivity training and parrot globohomo talking points
The only difference between them and western activists is that korean kpop idols aren't as dumb to ruin their own image pursuing political clout
They're all gyoppos (ethnic koreans with foreign citizenship) -- most seem to come from Australia or New Zealand.
It's funny because gyoppos are just one step above foreigners in the pecking order... just one Gulf of America-sized step down from actual Koreans.
So....better than US.
At least they look pretty. Seriously, look at the video I linked, is a guy apologizing to a black woman for wearing a durag in a video because it's "black culture"
The "pretty" really is a plus. I did find the focus on appearance there better than what the west has become.
I get you on the videos, but offer this consideration....
If the propaganda piece is in English and not Korean, the target is not Korea.
