We need the weird fans who are trying new stuff. This is why I support stuff like Vibe Coding or AI code. It's not much different from script kiddies from back in the day.
It has been one of my best purchases of the last five years. Great mod support, very, very repayable. It has many viable strategies and encourages you to try different play styles. Have a look, it might be your cup of tea.
This is more or less the journey of Thor (Jason Thor Hall), founder of Pirate Software.
He worked for Blizzard, then Amazon Games, then the government as a counter intrusion specialist. Now he has founded Pirate Software and is pretty frank about it.
Heartbound, his game, is pretty good? I haven't played it yet.
Thor got a nepobaby job through his father that he, by his own accidental admission, sucked at, then got a "hacker award" in a group massively larger than most that ever join the competition making his own contributions questionable. And his "skills" shown since then have shown that he almost certainly was carried.
And then created a game he abandoned (he was at 13 months without an update) while pretending he didn't, before Steam added the functionality that showed how long games in EA were going without a patch. He then patched it once a few months ago and hasn't since (despite saying he would every single month). The current chapter in development was, again by his own words, 90+% done years ago.
He also had an autistic shitfit about Stop Killing Games, because he sucks corpo cock. And is currently melting down because people ask "why do you stream playing games 12-16 hours a day instead of making your game?" He also was caught using a walkthrough for the game Animal Well on Stream and then passing it off as himself just casually solving the puzzle (that took the entire community weeks to crowdsource solving piece by piece) because he is a 1337 big brain hackerman.
There is nothing Chad about that man, other than his ability to apparently get people to believe his massivley over hyped claims without question.
On a related note, if anyone hasn't played Yasuke Simulator, it's genuinely fun.
Has a banger OST as well.
The Kingdom Come Deliverance team were the Chad for the first one, but morphed into the Virgin for the second.
I'd say most of the industry was Chad 20 - 30 years ago. Then it became 'an industry'.
Japan's gaming industry was always profitable and they made things with SOVL from the beginning.
This is why I endorse Holocure so much.
Kay Yu was offered by Cover Corp to make it an official product, and turned them down, wanting to keep it as a passion project.
And it's free.
Looks like fun and is the right price.

Every Stellaris modder ever.
I'm going to take a moment to recommend Starsector. It is a fantastically polished 2D space exploration, combat, and trading game.
