Christ preached personal charity and despised hypocrites.
So naturally liberals think that He would approve of them voting to have other people's stuff taken away, half of it wasted, while calling themselves righteous.

Exactly. There's not even a pretence of consent of the governed. Never has been. People don't have the faintest understanding of what consent of the governed would actually look like. They hear words but don't understand them or take them seriously.
