Culture basically died after the early 00s, right around the time the puppeteers pushed Obama out on his strings. After that western Civ gave in to the zombie virus and has been shambling along ever since.
Jackass/Viva La Bam was peak cultural degeneracy, where adults actually started to tune in to watch this absolute low point of Western 'entertainment' television for clueless sixteen-year-olds.
Especially 'Viva La Bam' was embarrassing and the harbinger of what was to come on Youtube.
The degeneracy comes from imitators forgoing the independent thought and outcast aspect that came from the earlier extreme sports and hooligan cultures, then the later cultural homogeneity that's built up since 2007. Sure Bam is a full on addict, but before that CKY/Jackass was a real entertainment documentary.
Viva La Bam and Jackass were lousy but they were the terminus of what started with CKY and Bam's skating stuff, which was a great snapshot of Gen X life when it was current. It was all before internet was standard, homemade fucking around and not giving a shit which was the attitude of every teenager at the time, only most of us couldn't afford video equipment. I can't hate Bam for that, but I think it was media and MTV pushing and changing him just as much as he helped ruin anything by the end.
Allegedly, the game was largely finished and Margera was not going to be in the cast. Tony Hawk then called the publisher Activision to have him brought back.
Seems like a pretty nice gesture, on top of the whole thing of retaining original content (though it sounds like they're newly scanning the bodies of the skaters?).
Was it an issue of royalties regarding Bam's likeness in the game? I'm not sure why Bam got removed at all if it's apparently so trivial a phone call from Tony would turn it around.
Cancel culture was the reason, sounds like. Bam Margera is a bit of a...Jackass.
It is weird though. Sounds like others have done worse; I didn't follow any of this, but not sure why they went after him specifically. Maybe he's just in the wrong profession. This would be normal if he was a fighter, and really tame if he was a football player.
Bam's a huge fuckup and is only just skating by not being in jail constantly. Its well beyond cancelling and into legitimate legal and safety problems. They literally cut him from the Jackass reunion thing a few years ago because of it, and those were his closest "friends."
So I'm sure to most of the suits in charge he was bad optics and controversy they didn't want, but Tony is a shockingly nice guy and probably doesn't care about any of that. This series wouldn't be where it was without both of them, skating as a whole might not be, so to Tony he deserved his place.
Its one of those situations where both sides are probably in the right depending on your beliefs.
I don't keep up with him too directly, but everytime you look him up he is either missing on a bender, posting nonsense high as fuck, or locked up in some form of institution.
The man is quite broken and a good look into why skaters/punks should die young for their own good. And I mean that in the least malicious way possible.
Bam has been in trouble with the law, addiction, and the Jackass crew recently (as in, over the last few years). It might have been decided by others to not have him involved. If there's something 'really bad,' I would think some games journos will be telling everyone about it soon.
Bam deserves to be in the game, simple as. His contribution to skateboarding, and the fact he was in the originals, he deserves to be there, period. Tony is right, and ultimately a good person.
Bam, sadly, built his career on doing increasingly stupid shit, and everyone just cheered him on like it was hilarious. Well, how hilarious is Bam now? Is it still funny, cause every asshole cheering him on 20 years ago, y'all helped his trajectory, and clapped like monkeys while this dude increasingly ripped his life apart. Viva La Bam wasn't peak anything other than the peak embarrassment of a hardcore drug addict. Where Bam is now is the end trajectory of a drug addict, and I assume it isn't as amusing as a 20 year old drug addict pranking his family and destroying his house for the suits. Probably has something to do with all of the domestic violence.
Good comment. No matter how fucked up Bam is (I don’t care for the guy at all), Tony Hawk did the right thing by including him and letting him have a little share of royalties.
Rightly so. Fuck this takes me back. Tony Hawk, Jackass/CKY/ Viva La Bam was peak early 2000’s culture.
Culture basically died after the early 00s, right around the time the puppeteers pushed Obama out on his strings. After that western Civ gave in to the zombie virus and has been shambling along ever since.
Yeah, but Jackass was part of that death.

rofl, it was pure MTV decadence. He was living in a mansion and using the wealth of his parents to arrange for the most elaborate(ly dumb) stunts.
Viva LA Bam is 2 layers removed from CKY, and I have not watched a minute of it.
It was his wealth, but the rest is right.
Whatever, dork.

And the way he treated his parents and that creepy uncle of his. Lowpoint doesn't begin to describe it.
MTV truly was a vehicle of left-liberal degeneracy and an unofficial media arm of the DNC.
It started with the Big Brother magazine, that's where the videos started that spun out to shit like CKY and Jackass

Wasn't he also in a mental institution for a good portion of the jackass reunion?

Nothing sadder than an old punk
Bam is a mentally ill alcoholic that only isn't in prison because he knows people

That's a good sign. I want to know who is making it, and can it mix with 1&2.
