Another extension I do suggest checking out is DeArrow. You have to pay about $1 but it lets people change the title and thumbnail to have much less clickbait. Sponsorblock is also necessary. And on mobile you can use Youtube ReVanced.
Never mind i got it turned back on. Chrome/google is full of trickery they try to convince you it doesn't work so you uninstall it but you have to click on the 3 dot grey button and confirm to keep it and then you have to go to extensions and turn it on AGAIN whilst chrome/google tries to convince you to get rid of it by saying its not supported anymore.
That's Google's polite way of saying that you're using a Manifest v2 extension and support will be discontinued in June. At that point you're reliant on your browsers adblocker or you'll have to switch to a Gecko based browser.
Are there any that don't work? On one browser, I use uBlock, which blocks everything, on another I use Adblock Plus, which blocks the ad but not the nag screen telling me that I'm not allowed to use an ad blocker.
If you're on desktop, you might want to check out the standalone FreeTube program. It blocks ads (and optionally sponsor segments), removes the "Videos You May Like" nonsense from search results, and has buttons for easy video downloading and archiving.
The two downsides are that every few months it'll break for a day when YouTube changes something on the backend, and there are no tabs, only new standalone windows. But I still prefer it over YouTube in a browser.
Brave browser works flawlessly for this. No plugins necessary, just out of the box functionality.

If you have it you can reactive it. Source: I did it.
I think there's a way to still download it too if you google fu
That just means it's time to stop using Chrome. I recommend looking into Brave or Pale Moon.

I've been using freetube instead. It generally works quite well. You don't even need a account iirc.
I've had no issues using Brave with a VPN set to Mexico plus basic things like ublock

I've always had a combo of NoScript and ublock and I've never seen a single one in my lifetime.
I use uBlock Origin and STANDS, seems to work fine for me, for the most part.
I run brave plus adguard plus a pi hole in the background
Brave with Adblock Plus.
