If you're on desktop, you might want to check out the standalone FreeTube program. It blocks ads (and optionally sponsor segments), removes the "Videos You May Like" nonsense from search results, and has buttons for easy video downloading and archiving.

The two downsides are that every few months it'll break for a day when YouTube changes something on the backend, and there are no tabs, only new standalone windows. But I still prefer it over YouTube in a browser.
