horseshoe theory. Apparently when you go far right or far left enough , you start to notice who is pulling the strings behind the scenes. . Or maybe its just that the far right and far left are more politically engaged so are more likely to notice things.
horseshoe theory is utter bullshit, largely based on contradictions in political science, and the variable definitions of the false left/right dichotomy often ascribed to therein.
Horseshoe theory is utter bullshit. Far left = authoritarian, far right = the opposite of authoritarian, and these two theories do not meet in the middle at any point other than some nebulous middle point between authoritarian and libertarian.
The concept of right wing and left wing came from France. The left wingers were anarchists and the right wingers were monarchists. Are monarchists libertarian to you?
The terms have changed definitions dozens of times since then. It barely even covers specifics about taxation and monetary redistribution anymore, like it did during the cold war. Nowadays, the term seems to be more about the divide between globalism and nationalism.
far right is still authoritarian, because you need an authority to enforce any sort of beliefs. yes, even if those beliefs are natural to the people. you don't call your body's immune system "authoritarian" but it very much is when it comes to obliterating foreign intruders and cancer cells.
libertarianism, which is probably what you're thinking of, lies in the middle and doesn't really believe in anything, which means it's sorta doomed as an ideology. what does libertarianism do when someone tries to stop it? exercise authority? uh-oh.
anyway we agree on your first sentence, the horseshoe theory retarded. if the far right is the body's immune system, the far left is the cancer cell, and i guess i should draw up a little illustration of ionizing radiation rays wearing little hats.
Horseshoe theory is when when the cancer cell accidentally develops its own cancer cells called "hypertumor cells" that destroys the original cancer cells . (this is a real thing look it up)
Right wing is the opposite of revolutionary, not authoritarian. A monarchist, a theocrat and a constitutionalist are all right wing, but their respective right wings might be very different.
By definition they might not.
But people rarely follow their own self-described ideologies or political theories to the definition and in their extremities will meet at the same place by the same human errors and instincts.
