Just do some legal wrangling to say that by them accepting the money and acting in that way, they lost their Tax Exempt church status by acting as a political body instead.
Which would also set the precedent to stop the many other Tax Exempt "churches" from springing up to abuse religious protections. Like all the various Satanic and Norse and Jedi ones.
