I think it more comes down to assumed political alignment (although some groups do get near total immunity, as you say.) If a prominent ultra-leftist said anything nice about Hitler, it would likely be excused and quickly swept under the rug, regardless of skin color or anything else. Unless they were already falling out of favor, in which case they would be utterly destroyed by the mob.
But if someone they already hate says anything not fully condemning Hitler, knives are out...regardless of their skin color. Kanye actually said nice things about Hitler, but was already on their shitlist. Candace Owens said things they could twist to make it seem like she loved Hitler, and she was already on their lists. Heck, Jews end up on the 'totally a Nazi' list, even if they say nothing nice about Hitler.
This will shock no one, but leftists don't have principles. If you're on the list, they will destroy you for any reason they can, even if it doesn't make any sense. Like when they destroyed Milo for...being a victim of pedophilia.

It is increasingly likely that the right wing will be forced to reevaluate the good and bad points of the belligerents in WWII. That discussion will mainly be a reckoning for the traditional history, but the revisionism is not quite accurate either.
It would be an interesting question exactly how fundamental Hitler's megalomania and multiple invasions were to his worldview and his vision for Germany, for instance.
I think the "Hitler did nothing wrong" side needs to clean up their arguments and talking points to make them more digestible for those redpilled individuals that are amenable to breaking away from the normie WW2 founding myth consensus.

A lot of Holocaust lore seems cobbled together from truisms like "the Germans found it was too inefficient to shoot people" -- how does anyone know this?
Barring more persuasive evidence the gassing story can't be taken seriously, and without the ovens, is there any way to explain the lack of bodies? If you compare per capita death tolls of the Chinese that the Japanese subjugated I think a few hundred thousand deaths should be the tentative start to a counternarrative.
To me, this is the most saggy part of revisionist history, since no one has an adequate explanation for Hitler invading country after country after country. MartyrMade's attempt to pin the invasions on Churchill seems silly. Hitler's actions repeatedly contradicted his words and the Axis was obviously an expansionist movement. Maybe the Allies could have attempted to simply understand Germany's economic situation in the very early stages.
Europa is gratuitous information vomit that has no idea what persuasion is. I don't think it's compelling unless you're heavily predisposed in that direction, and it would take at least 10 times its runtime to check even a fraction of its claims. Based on the tenor of the narration I'm guessing a lot of them are just made up. It sounds schizo.
Another problem with fringe countercultural movements is that a lot of their people are in the movement because they're fringe personalities excluded from society and therefore temperamentally open to taking bigger risks, but not necessarily much better at discernment. In addition to the gas and guns, during the search of the camps, ‘gas wagons’ were found where a vehicle’s exhaust would be redirected to a purpose built part of the vehicle so the people in that compartment would die of carbon monoxide poisoning.
With the sheer capabilities of other genocides that weren’t the Holocaust, I don’t find it hard to believe the numbers, or at least the fact that the ovens existed because of the sheer amount of bodies created by the Holocaust.
