Having one person you know die of an OD is average. Yeah it was her son. I'm just saying that happens to good people too.

If someone you were responsible for goes off and does a bender of Cocaine and Xanax, you've forfeited being called a good person by failing as both a parent and a citizen by sending such a fuckup out into the world.
I dunno about that; I know a few very normal families who have lost people to opioid overdoses, though. I don't wanna be too specific, but one of them the guy, who was religious and straight edge, had never done any drugs before. He got injured and got a prescription for opiates. He had moved back in with his parents after the injury after having lived in another state for a long time -- IDK if because of injury or drugs or both. but anyways he ended up getting what he thought was heroin in the suburbs and he died at home.
It's a kind of fire that will kill you if you play with it. but otherwise is pretty like normal drugs inasmuch as how hard it seems to be to stay off.
Self control is a taught virtue and it applies even if its not some "evil sinful" temptation in front of you, but one you should partake in regardless.
My most of my immediate family, including both my parents, died young from either lifelong drug habits or overdoses. No one will recieve an ounce of sympathy from me for junkies and their deaths, even if its from a necessary drug like pain killer. Including myself, who does not take most of the prescribed anti-pain meds after major surgery and simply lives with some of the pain to avoid developing a habit, and doesn't even consume alcohol in the slightest.
Allowing people to become "blameless" due to victimhood is to start the path of removing their agency, and in doing so create an entire culture where things "just happen and its tragic" instead of a teachable lesson we can glean to prevent it from doing so. Even if it means beating down a parent burying their child cruelly.
Yeah I don't drink or use opiates either. I used to drink. I never used opiates.
I've never touched anything harder than caffeine, and I've kicked that a few times just to prove to myself I could. Almost got in the gambling hole, but recognized it happening and got out.
Which is why my stance on it is so hard, for both those who come have everything like Susan's son and those who think they have nothing but to turn to it. I've lived as proof that there is no excuse, ever, for it.
Not all people are the same. Some people are mostly immune to drug induced addictions and can use drugs without ever getting sucked in. Others are extremely susceptible to it and will get addicted using the first time. It's not just mental but can also be physical. Native Americans for example are genetically susceptible to alcohol.
I seem to be unable to get addicted to nicotine. But I won't look down upon people who are addicted to nicotine. Pretending you just need to force yourself to kick a bad habit is idiotic as that bad habit is often just a symptom for deeper lying issues. Be it menal or physical.

I thought even normies were now becoming aware that the 6m number is not historically justified? Most people I've seen discuss this who aren't "holocaust deniers" accept that:
the holocaust included non-Jews
the number of jews deliberately murdered was far less than six million: that number if believed typically includes any jews who died in the war, not the "systematically murdered" ones.
That's before getting into their mythos around the 6m number. We can debate whether letting Jews starve or die in concentration camps vs actually putting them in ovens counts as "systematic murder".
It's not like Jews were the only ones to die from starvation in the camps, either. Sure, they were far from the top of the priority list of people to feed, but even the German soldiers died of hunger and dysentery once the supplies were cut off by the Allies. The pictures of mass burial holes we've seen included many non-Jews, and likely many German soldiers as well.
6 million number typically includes Jews who died in ghettos before the war as well. For basically any reason. And it's a significant chunk.
