You know what's funny about ALL of this to me, the timing.
Like earlier this week we had a complaint regarding sexualized women in a lot of Asian games likening it to pornography. Then just today boom, our beautiful Ciri got her face caved in by the ugly tree.
This is why fanservice will remain a non issue to most gamers so long as the western devs have licence to uglify our loved characters.
Women have been sexualized throughout human history. Those same Christians aren’t running to cover up Venus de Milo or David. This leads me to believe it’s clickbait.
The denotation of "sexualized" is a massive problem here. "Sexualized" is taken to mean "makes people imagine sex" but radfems apply this to non-erotic situations constantly. Aka "Ciri should be prettier" is interpreted as "I want to bang Ciri."
Not only that, but no language exists to narrowly define "I would like the character to be more attractive in a non-pornographic way," and radfems have no interest in such terms because they simply oppose men.
Even wanting a character to have a more attractive body is not the same thing as imagining sex. We derive our standards of beauty from symmetry, health, agility, and grace. All of those things are exclusively good.
At least part of it likely ties in with development time/cycles. The rest is of course whether or not they're still betting on the DEI money (which is still rolling in a fair bit).
I'm betting next year that money will have a bigger dip given quite a lot of that was government money and DOGE in America at least will recommend cutting that immediately.

If nothing else I'm looking forward to this happening post 2024 and POTUS-elec 47 because Woke is really on the way out atm, so much like other games that have coasted along on external funding and taken the better part of a decade to make this one might just find the playerbase that carried 3 so much is no longer there and that the show audience doesn't want it either, because the show already shot themselves in both feet making their own treehouse with

Yeah even with the lore context of if being rape and her not fighting it out of loneliness will be retcon to some romantic bullshit. At this point you can bet almost all female characters in western media is depicted as a lesbian and you did win sixty percent of the time everytime.
