I feel like a lot of the female vtubers I've seen are somewhat based, or at least smart enough to pretend to be, or at least don't hate men/their consumer base.

I think it's because most vtubers fit within the niche of genuinely nerdy girls, rather than the popular 'gamer gurl' aesthetic which is more of a performative thing. They seem to have genuine love for games, anime, TTRPGs etc. Hence why they use an avatar rather than banking on their real life looks.
You're not likely to find many 'normal' women in the vtuber space, so it naturally attracts those who are more tomboyish or disagreeable. Those kind of women are probably also more likely to be conservative, on average.
VTubing also has an almost mandatory element that the talent has to be fucked up mentally. Sometimes this is bad (BPD manipulative narcissistic cunts) but other times it's something as simple as autism or ADHD.
A woman with autism is a lot easier for guys to interact with since the autism kinda nerfs the part of the girl that makes them annoying (all the emotional thinking-with-feelings bullshit).
