It's sad they're ruining a great culture. Football chants were great especially in the UK but they've been getting watered down to be as bad as American chants.

Whilst I disagree with people getting arrested for shit like this, insulting people based on innate characteristics is stupid. Yes, insulting chanting is part of football culture, but if I think someone is a cunt I'll just call them a cunt rather than fixate on race.
A cunt is an innate physical characteristic of a woman. By your own logic, its stupid to do so.
And I'm sure you'll say "cunt means something else in this context" but so does every other racial slur. Calling someone a "nigger" isn't doing so because black is innately bad, its shorthand because black means "stupid, lazy, criminal, etc." Just as whatever cunt means when you say it.
Meh, when you insult someone you say whatever you think will hurt them. Spanish/Catalan relations can have some friction, on top of that. Those people were really stupid sinking that low on what should be entertainment.
