Ah, it's Hasbro. They must be absolutely hurting for cash since Wizards of the Coast is about the only profitable arm of the company and has been making some big missteps lately(as opposed to the smaller missteps that have been ongoing for years at this point).
You don’t think cowboyish orcs that don’t have guns and love and get along with everybody always forever with happiness and friendship makes for a good game?
Half-Orcs are reviled for a reason. If you play as a monster you should be treated as a monster. I say this as someone who once played a goblin that was the animal companion to another player's Bugbear Ranger. That was a weird campaign and only worked because we were out in the fucking sticks.
My biggest pet peeve of dming is when someone plays a teifling or a lizardman or just decides on a horrifying looking character and the NPCs react as if a scary monster is talking to them. I can like feel a shift as the player thinks "Oh their BIGOTS!!!!" ignoring that they''re supposed to be normal easily killable humans that are rightfully scared of monster races because 99% of them will kill normal humans and elves on sight.
Though the garbage that came out killed any interested I have of ever doing that again for dungeons and fagots that love Matt Mercer
Not as weird as having one humanoid character, with everyone else playing pieces of his magical, talking equipment. The sword as an instigator, the shield as a coward, the boots always wanting to wander off to "interesting" places, etc
The biggest misstep here is how did we not know about this? They're quietly put up on some side auction site? In a proper auction, hell, even in some charity auction at a nerd convention, they'd turn a tidy profit offloading these one or two at a time (for the charity auction, you'd claim that amount as charitable donations on the tax returns).
This one guy on reddit tracks it for us. I think revenue is still pretty good. Missteps are kind of tangential to the fact that they are selling out the brands. Specifically with MTG they have released about hundreds of sets recently based on everything from Fallout to literal Faggotry. You'd have to really fuck this up to not make more money than usual -- for a while.
According to the friend who informed me, this was revealed in a shareholders call.
Habro bought the IP under the previous CEO; who didn't consult R&D about it. The current CEO and the rest of the company now have an IP they absolutely do not want, don't want to invest money in and don't understand.
Toy rights were sold to Playmates so they don't have to invest money in it. The props of any given show (other than the suits) were destroyed rather than let the actors (like JDF) have any of them; when previous companies would allow at least the helmets to be taken home as a token of thanks for working on the shows.
Rights to the comic books are still with Boom Studios, but this is up in the air. After a young-adult reboot with Netflix fell through, Hasbro seems content to vault the IP in the future.
Even future blu-ray releases of Super Sentai are iffy as Shout! Factory would have to go through them since they inherited Saban's stranglehold on western releases.
And here's the kicker - Hasbro may not have the legal right to sell these costumes. I'm told they were loaned out from Toei; who insisted on having any damaged ones returned to be replaced with fresh ones.
I actually heard things like that from BoundingIntoComics.com. Yes, it does seem that the franchise is likely coming to an end (or at least going into relative dormancy) after the intended reboot fell through.
Speaking of the intended reboot, there are two questions I would like answered:
Did the team behind the franchise make Cosmic Fury the finale of the rangerverse in part because Hasbro didn't care about the franchise? Maybe not, since they at least put some effort into the reboot.
How far into development did the intended reboot get? It might be a morbid curiosity, but maybe it would be worth discussing, kind of like the awful Live-action Powerpuff girls script.
That being said, I don't imagine that fans of the franchise would take this development too badly given that they got one last reunion show and a proper conclusion to the franchise on top of that. I think they would be like "Yeah, it sucks, but at least Power Rangers went out with dignity." If nothing else, some people here might say it was probably for the better that the IP got vaulted.
Having it fade into obscurity is preferable to the the continuous public necrophilia going on with Star Wars and Marvel. If people can't/won't treat these IP's with respect, I'd rather they keep their hands off them.
I wonder if they have made up certificates of authenticity with the brand name Hasbro on them. I know reseller who will be keeping an eye on it. I wonder what the bids will look like for the more random props. One really juicy rich-boy bid war on any particular item will categorically affect the perceived value of hundreds of other items, and if's gonna happen. I doubt there will be room for any but the most insane funko-collector tier consoomer splurgers and wealthy resellers

So basically it's reality, but we're using different species as stand ins for different races.
It does help filter out undesirable women on dating apps when you see a picture of them with their half-orc spawn.

Should have tried to sell it back to Bandai

That shouldn't be legal.
I hate it too, but if it's made illegal, it WILL be weaponized against those who gatekeep their IPs from those who would destroy them.
Wouldn't be the first time Toei had to deal with that. Suit destruction happened under Saban too. Tragic they just ruin stuff like that.
You mean I can get an authentic white ranger costume and run around yelling "white power!"?
Helmet suit is toast.

...not gonna lie, I'd just about kill to get ahold of a dragon dagger prop.
say what you want, but in spite of being dumb as hell, it was also somehow cool as hell at the same time...
Bandi made a killer prop of that years ago. Shame I was never able to get that and the Dragon Tiger Morpher
ah well...
heck, who knows, maybe I could get a blacksmith to make me a (semi) functional replica someday, lol.
Noticed an uptick in the value of vintage Power Rangers merchandise. They're probably trying to cash in on that craze before it disappears again.
Is Saban the one from Rebels who is an artistic Mandalorian?
Pretty sure he's the dude who suplexed a train in the phantom forest.

Where?
Where what? If you mean where the auctions are listed, it's the third link in my sources comment.
I didn't read it. Found it anyway.
