Today @CTVNews was caught splicing a clip of @PierrePoilievre to propagate the Liberals’ narrative.
This is not only a total fabrication designed to deceive Canadians but also a major breach of journalistic ethics.
CTV must apologize for their flagrant use of disinformation.

@CTVNews literally cut and spliced Pierre’s words to make him say something he didn’t. How do you spell MISINFORMATION?
They then posted a phony apology (in a picture post so it won't appear in searches, and in tiny text) saying it was "taken out of context" blaming a "misunderstanding during the editing process": https://archive.is/wip/nfg2z
UPDATE They've put a complete ban on caucus communicating with not only CTV but it's parent company Bell and all its lobbyists! https://x.com/Skamski/status/1838665622491926829
Like any trust based system, if no one bothers to verify then hold those who do wrong accountable, the system eventually becomes corrupted.
Journalist has been a dirty word for a hundred years and even before, going back to when Hearst was starting wars for funsies.
The system was not eventually corrupted, it was founded on corruption.
Longer than that. "If I had my choice I would kill every reporter in the world, but I am sure we would be getting reports from Hell before breakfast. - General William T. Sherman"
"The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.” - Thomas Jefferson
Journalists are simply the modern town crier. You will hear what the nobility deigns you to hear, you dirty peasant.
What would it take to mitigate that inherent corruption? Or should the whole system be disassembled to try again?
The latter. Alongside strict laws restricting their conduct.
