The best ones to have rifles are usually rural farm hands and the like who have to shoot animals to protect their livelihood. They not only have the experience of shooting a moving object at range but of killing as there's a massive difference between a target and actually killing something.
I enjoy hearing stories of hunters and farmers becoming war heroes, like the Red Baron or the White Death. Yeah I've encountered enough leftists to realize that while they are dangerous in terms of what they are willing to do and to who (random attack against soft targets like kids) they aren't dangerous in terms of how skilled they are. That said, anyone can be taken by surprise or a pot shot and these guys are not above spraying into a crowd of kids or plowing into a parade.
