They actually tend to transport homeless people as a human trafficking mechanism. They use federal subsidies to transport homeless people from NYC, to Portland, to SF, to LA, and back again. Every time each city gets a homeless population, they get federal money to 'deal with the crisis'.
The Left are literally manufacturing homeless drug addicts to sell to each other in order to leech off tax dollars.
Reminds me of how Los Angeles county jail was notorious for bussing inmates to different facilities every few days. They got paid per bus ride and didn't have to count those "in transport" making it appear that they didn't have an overcrowding problem.
Truly helping the homeless involves quite a bit of effort. It’s very easy to say all the right things but it’s interesting how they don’t want them in their neighborhoods along with illegal immigrants or the black criminals they love so much.
Most the time they can't even be helped. You can only make their lives move comfortable. They don't want to get out of their situation, so you're stuck with adult sized toddlers till the day they die. I've had to work with them in the medical scene and they are by far the most demanding and entitled assholes you will ever meet.
yup. Most of them are essentially adults who said "fuck it, I'll just do drugs till I die". the more comfortable we make that lifestyle through handouts, the more we will create.
I no longer have any remorse for turning away panhandlers. they've got food stamps, so they're not hungry. they've got the shelters, so they have a roof if they need it. They will not take any of the money that you give them and put it towards bettering their lives, they will use it for drugs or slightly more expensive food.
Exactly. You're already paying for it without your consent via taxes. Pan handlers are getting you to double dip. Assuming they aren't flat out scamming. It is so fucking obnoxious getting stopped at that red light while one of those motherfuckers with their sign awkwardly stares right at you for what feels like an eternity.
Staring is nothing to complain about. In some ways, I would prefer them to shut down the shelters and wasteful administrator salaries and let them live in their california shanty towns.
The NYC ones that walk up, knock on window, pointing to their sign, or too lazy to even make a sign, and then complain about only getting a dollar (they expect at least $10) are the worst. Especially on holidays. I never give them anything but I overheard them before fleeing that shithole city. The nasty ones should just rot in prison.
I guess that's just a West Coast thing. I have never encountered one TOO overly aggressive like that. Though the gas can motherfuckers will sometimes come up to you. I hadn't considered the idea of varying breeds of homelessness... makes sense.
You guys don't see them mask off in charity work because they're trying to get something and so they play nice.
I've worked with the homeless roofing, where they have no reason to BS you. They have no compunction about stealing from anyone, raping, even covering up murder, in order to get a fix.
It's also a problem that having a full time job will not necessarily make you able to afford to get off the streets. The rental market is out of control and the only people who benefit are migrants and landlords.
Yea but that also gets into inflation and the federal reserve sadly most people don’t care or their eyes glaze over when you talk about fiat currency or inflation
That and they don't have a social network that would allow them to safely live with other people that wouldn't re-invigorate the problem. Everyone of their old friends are all drug users too.
And this me saying this, but even fixing the monetary problems doesn't fix the social problems. It just makes the currency and regulatory issues less of a problem.
Very true. A stable family is so important. I’ve had to lean on my family before. Also I was blessed with a MASSIVE extended family so even my 5th or 7th cousins will call me up for assistance
Yeah, once you start understanding how a stable family can organize, you really understand how powerful they can become (and why the Left and government seek to destroy them).
That's exactly the problem. You can't make their lives more comfortable. You actually have to make their lives worse until they choose to get out.
I listened to a guy who actually ran homeless shelters in the UK and he said that you should never give money to homeless people because it allows them to stay out on the streets longer. Until they can be forced back to the shelters, where they will basically be forced to get counseling and drug rehab or jailed (where they will also be forced to at least get clean).
This could be a result of the Supreme Court ruling that cities can, in fact, clear homeless camps out, instead of being prohibited from doing so, as they thought they were based on a prior ruling (a case in Idaho, I think).
Edit: yeah, it says that right at the top of the article that I didn't read first.
Under Newsom’s direction, state agencies — including state parks and department of transportation — would be required to prioritize clearing encampments that pose safety risks, such as those camping along waterways. Officials should give advance notice to vacate, connect homeless people to local services and help store their belongings for at least 60 days. Local cities and counties are urged to adopt similar protocols.
This won't change a god damn thing and will only lead to wasting more tax dollars.
You will know they are executing on that property plan when they lower the property tax. the property tax in California is high enough to rival the mortgages of houses in other states, but they don't collect on it because houses don't get reassessed until they are sold. that's why you have a bunch of old people living in California and not moving, they're holding on to their insanely low property tax based on an assessment from 30 years ago.
the moment they get rid of that and lower the property tax in general, or at least say they're going to, is when they will squeeze that profit
Evidently, they no longer serve a purpose

Yes, the Left are demons.

I’ve worked with some through church or other projects and it is sad that only a few I worked with were really trying to get out of poverty

just in time for election season!
I remember back when they rolled out a program to give shopping carts to the homeless. Yeah real compassionate there...
“Empathy” aka “hey let’s give these people Free drugs and a place they never have to leave! Surely this will fix the drug problem!”

The optimist in me thinks they've finally figured out their policies don't work.
The pessimist in me thinks they've now lowered the property values enough that they can snag it all up and make a profit.

They're probably expecting an enemy leader to arrive. Remember when they cleaned it all up for pooh bear's visit?
Xi must be wanting to swing by.
Where shall they go? What shall they do?
Gotta cut back on the gibs for a little bit, so that the dependents feel the pinch and the sympathetic see or hear more crying.
