Another weird coincidence - the guy who got the photo of the bullet (which required highly specific settings being enabled to even have a chance of capturing) is the same guy who got this iconic photo of Bush on 9/11 (media.scored.co)

Could be the curse of being an 'observer', those that are near big events but not directly tied to them.

Out of ALL the shit that's getting brought up with this assassination attempt, I'm actually willing to believe this is just one if those weird motherfuckers that has that luck you read about in history a lot.

For sure, and most of these weird things have a plausible enough explanation in a vacuum.

Similar to 9/11 though it’s the absurd accumulation of coincidences that gets harder and harder to dismiss as mere coincidence. Speaking of 9/11, a Blackrock subsidiary is being reported as having shorted $DJT to an inexplicable degree the day before the shooting, just like happened to multiple airlines immediately prior to 9/11

Forgive the tangent lol

I don't think it's a coincidence that the guy that NYT pays to take pictures of presidents at their events happens to have pictures of them at events. How many thousands of pictures of presidents doing normal shit this guy takes doesn't get noticed?

Also, those settings aren't actually that weird, that's what the settings his camera uses when doing burst mode which is what most photographers use since they have way more storage than ever in the same form factor.

Yeah but you don’t think anything is a conspiracy, you’re a Normie’s normie

If you think they let the NYT into their little conspiracy you're a moron. Conspiracies only work if the group conspiring is kept small. The number one reason that 9/11 wasn't done by tye government is because it would require way too many people in the government to be involved for us not to have found out by now.

MkUltra was kept secret for so long only because it was a small group wholly within the CIA running the show. You don't bring outsiders into it unless you want to he caught.

I'm not a retard, if a simple explanation exists that doesn't involve shit with no evidence outside of "this guy was at two major events involving the same kind of people" it's not evidence of a conspiracy.

I never said “NYT” once faggot, in fact, if you looked at the picture, you’d see he worked for the AP in 2001.

Crying faggot, truly the mark of someone who can't fucking read.

We're talking about the Trump assassination conspiracy, not 9/11. You're trying to use 9/11 to justify this being a conspiracy for some dipshit reason and I was pointing out that nobody would bring in this NYT photographer into their conspiracy.

Pointing out this guy used to work for AP doesn't exactly help your point since, you know, that applies to them too.

I was pointing out that nobody would bring in this NYT photographer into their conspiracy.

Wouldn’t be the first time it happened, with this very guy

Pointing out this guy used to work for AP doesn't exactly help your point since

Except… you’re the only one stressing over who pays this guy’s wage. It’s literally irrelevant to the point.

A grand total of ONE person in the US government was required to pull that off.

ONE.

One does not a conspiracy make.

Yeah there are photographers whose entire job is just to follow politicians around and take pictures of them at rallies or other public events. It's like saying wow this wildlife photographer who captured a rare bird species also captured another rare bird species two decades ago.

That is pretty damn weird, but the "highly specific settings being enabled to even have a chance of capturing" is kind of a myth. Photographers often try to grab long sequences of shots, which is something you can do on your phone. The top-left thumbnail might even be from a video IIRC. If it was a very high shutter speed you'd see the bullet clearly and not a streak.

Short video interview with the photographer:

https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/14/politics/video/doug-mills-trump-rally-photo-src-digvid

He had a Sony A1 camera and had the shutter speed set to 1/8000th of a second. I’ve heard back and forth on justifications for such a high shutter speed, but amazingly he was able to capture the 3 image progression of bullet>wince/hand raise>bloody hand

Why wouldn’t he set shutter speed that high if he could get away with it? The reasons to have a lower shutter speed are as follows:

  1. To allow motion to be blurred—not something you usually want for news photos of a speech, so that’s out

  2. To let more light in in order to increase the exposure. Obviously, the photos don’t look underexposed, so he’s fine there

  3. In order to allow for a sharper depth of field. Again, not a huge concern for news photos, but the focus in the photos seems fine, so as with exposure, no problem there.

The simplest explanation seems likely to be that he sets his shutter speed as he can and likely takes hundreds or even thousands of photos of every event he covers, then uses the most visually striking.

You can have multiple terabytes of data saved on a SD card that's smaller than the nail on your pinky finger. Why wouldn't you take advantage of that?

Ok you're right that is pretty specific. 1/8000 is the highest setting on most devices without going to more specialized equipment. Yeah, he must have had some reason to set it that high.(or maybe not, I'm not a professional) I hope we don't find out he frequently contracts for Blackrock.

My 1DC goes to 1/8000th and it's designed for action photography. I've used it at high shutter speeds combined with the 14 fps burst function to get shots of birds.

This guy is a very experienced photographer, and it doesn't surprise me in the least that he was able to capture this. The only surprise is that he was lucky enough to press the shutter button at the right time.

It didn't require a "highly specific setting to be enabled."

There's literally a knob on the camera specifically for changing that setting. It's one of the basic bitch settings you learn in photography 101 on the first day.

To even have a chance of capturing the bullet required the maximum shutter speed he could set the camera to. How would you phrase that statement for the title?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– dotheneedful 2 points 1 year ago +2 / -0

I looked up his camera and it can go faster with an electronic shutter. So it wasn't even at max. I would phrase it as, "dude had a camera setting on a perfectly expected number."

Getting your panties in a bunch over retarded conspiracy theories is such a fucking waste of time. The Secret Service failed at some pretty basic tasks why are you focusing on retarded shit?

His mental decision to take the picture would have happened before the bullet was even fired.
