Problem is, you can't really sell yourself as a self-improvement guy if you have as many homelife fuck ups as Peterson does. Between failing to raise his daughter and becoming a junkie, he lost any highground to preach from. Same with any claim he could have to practice psychology on a therapeutic level.
So he might not be wrong in what he is saying, but now him being the one saying it taints it whatsoever because of his personal failings.
Exactly. His most famous piece of advice is probably the "clean your room" line, or to put it in its more formal form, "set your own house in order before you criticize the world." His own house is clearly not in order but he keeps criticizing the world, so now what?
the second advice being "pick the highest load you can, and carry it"
and he's a living example of why thats bad advice : do that and you'll end up burnt out and addicted to things that temporarily allow you to not notice that you're burnt out.
I don't know your situation or history, but for me personally everything I gained from Peterson has been more thoroughly articulated, expanded upon, and clarified since joining the Orthodox church and studying the topic from the inside. Peterson says things that sound incredibly insightful until you learn that the entire Christian theological tradition spanning two thousand years has been saying the same or better. You just don't hear about it because academia has been overtly secular and anti-Christian for over 60 years now.
having a degree at least proves that you took the time to study shit. that's more than most people can say.
taking the medical industry for example, yes there's a ton of snake oil being pushed in it right now. but at the end of the day, I would still trust a surgeon to do my medical procedure over some dude off the street.
Keeping the Jungian approach alive is pretty impressive, Marxists in academia would much rather that psychology be dominated by behaviorism and constructivism since they want to believe that human behavior can be straightforwardly manipulated like lab rats. Materialism in general has a stranglehold on the cognitive sciences, since Marxists and technocratic liberals alike resent the idea that humans are more than just biological robots.
I've got a degree and close to a decade of learning/training in Psychology.
Peterson is repeating basic shit an undergrad could know if they showed up to most of their classes, and then repackaging it with really good viral marketing. I was writing similar shit in a Mock Action Plan for Male Focused Therapy in my junior year.
She is all the evidence you need to know Peterson doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about.
Eh, I think he does sometimes, but his daughter is a fucking fruitcake.
I don't know what the hell happened to her but she's all over the place when it comes to her opinions.
I think it has everything to do with her being a woman.
Unearned success likely the culprit along with a sudden influx of wealth.
She subverted his brand during the worst of COVID when he went missing for a year in his benzo stupor.
We also don't tend to hear much about Peterson's wife Tammy besides the fact that she almost died of breast cancer.
She could be subvertive behind the scenes as well.

his politics are definitely retarded, but he is well studied in the field of psychology.
And climate scientists are well studied in the field of climatology.
the first correct rebuttal all day
Brother man, having a degree that says you know shit does not actually guarantee that you know shit.
The medical industry has been proving this for ages now.

I’m not listening to you until we suss out your heretic status
I live in Canada, so I'll take the street dude.
But this just isn't true categorically, and my stint as a college essay writer for chinese cheaters is proof.

resisting indoctrination is what got his license suspended

Have you ever listened to one of his lectures? He just rambles incoherently about nothing
And then he cries
