FANZA Follows as Next to Suspend Visa Card Payments
Japanese adult websites have been suspending the use of Western credit card companies left and right, and the latest to do it is DMM subsidiary FANZA, which dropped Visa card payment support. Here's an excerpt from FANZA regarding the suspension of Visa car...
I honestly wish. Not sure about the laws in Japan, but the US has built laws to wall in the main three (Visa, Mastercard, Amex.) You would need the US government’s blessing to start a rival card company that can transfer between Japan and US.
What about Discover? Yeah laugh if you want but they're pretty mainstream now and are part of the JCB/Diner's Club network that has been popular in Japan for a long time.
I'll laugh more if this is the opportunity Discovery needs to become a major player by filling the void Visa leaves.
It's widely accepted, but I see it as part of the oligopoly.
You'd also need to convince some banks to bother playing along.
YOu can issue a credit card, directly. I don't think that's the problem. But I don't know what you're saying exactly. Yes, at some point the banks would have to play along. Repayments, I guess, since most people pay their credit cards via bank account. IDK how open that is.
If you are gonna make it any harder than paying visa you may as well take crypto, though, or even some kind of wire transfer they will probably let you do.
