It's a bit of a twist on "cui bono", but what possible benefit did the stabbing derive her? No money was taken, she didn't know them personally to hate them on a personal level, she is allegedly mentally competent, it was targeted -not a stabbing spree, if she wanted to be jailed she could do something far less likely to get her killed.
