The "pile-ons" aspect seems to be a criminalisation of criticism and accountability. That's always been one thing the Government has wanted, a Lese-Majeste law.
Yup. Particularly alarming when you consider that the "eSafety Commissioner" is essentially the whim of one person (Julie Inman-Grant), so I'm sure part of the intention there is to shield her from criticism, herself...
Can't protest the government-appointed chief janny if you're not allowed to "pile on" the chief janny. taps head
It's very on brand for Aus that this woman gets paid nearly half a million dollarydoos a year, and regularly* attends Davos, and this is the first such specially-created "position" in the world. Odd, but definitely "on brand"...
Hmm, I think we need to add more bureaucracy to this deal, How about the government design a special form in which the people need to gather all their criticisms, this form can only be submitted once every 4 year, and the people will have about 2 weeks to fill it in once it has been opened. The request to open is submitted to the government which will review the request and then after arbitrary time up to about 4 years will publish it for the people to fill in. This ensures that that peoples voice are still heard without causing undue mental health problems for our glorious leaders, aswell as ensuring all is done in the proper civilized manner.
I think our politicians and bureaucrats are generally among some of the… More highly-remunerated in the developed world, but I admit that it is still very unusual…
Everything about the “eSafety commissioner” and indeed Julie Inman-Grant’s whole career, is… Unusual.
There’s being “well-connected”, and there’s failing upwards, and then there’s her.
Like that Harvard president, but with much more power and (probably) money, lol.
And if they don't like the "feedback", who's to say that they won't just push ahead with this anyway? After all, it has bipartisan support, so exactly who is going to stand in their way?
They will probably take away one thing from it, the "conservatives" cheer that they've defeated big government, the rest get passed, and the part taken away will get added on later after everyone's forgotten about it.
That's what a lot of people don't seem to remember. Those were permanent structures, not fema style tent cities, so there is already a space to send 'unmentionables'.

Brother we only pay the US president 400k a year, what the fuck is going on in Australia
Well she is American, lol…
But honestly, I have no idea.

Anyway, here is the original: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-04-28/government-contemplates-major-expansion-of-esafety-powers/103778180
You know like all elections the votes will be counted until the people vote correctly.
Public feedback is sought to give a veneer of consultation. They will expand powers anyway - guaranteed.
They need these kinds of laws implemented all around the western world in time for Agenda 2030.
They will probably take away one thing from it, the "conservatives" cheer that they've defeated big government, the rest get passed, and the part taken away will get added on later after everyone's forgotten about it.
Exactly right. "Conservatives" conserve nothing.

Bipartisan, for the children?
''Bipartisan'' here means splitroasting citizens.
You know what this reminds me of?
Communist China's "Hundred Flowers Campaign" of entrapping dissident opinions.
It’s a play straight out of corporations. If you give anything but 5 stars, they will hunt you down.
My feedback is that all of your officials deserve to die in prison for the concept.
why are they pretending they have any jurisdiction over the internet?
