I don't get tired of laughing at Starfailed.

I really wanted Starfield to work. I had it wishlisted and hoped that the initial reviews would shake out and it’d be a solid game.
It’s no longer on my wishlist.
Lets just say I am happy I never payed for it.
There is nothing memorable about Starfield. It is nothing but empty space. From the what, eight or so identical bases scattered across the 100 star system map. All that and it's the same Spacer, Pirate, bug enemies. Even the occupied cities which are around only 10 or so are sparse and empty.
The main story is pretty generic and the side quest are just filled with Bethesda's compound fetch quests. Go here, no the item moved, you got to go there now.
Not to mention they put a skin customization slot on suits and ammo but didn't put in any skin. It just sits there.
I know i said previously that modding wont save the game.. i do wish there was a planet where its a giant tropical beach/pool with purple, blue skinned big tittied girls walking around in skimpy bikinis and doing sexy animations and idles.
No man's Sky return was similar to Battlefield 4 in that when it released it was much less than expected but hard work by the devs delivered what was promised.
Fallout 4 thanks to the modding community will always be played like Skyrim which is so funny that Starfield restricted it's modding community
And Cyberpunk not only had some work put in but an excellent anime to draw people back in.
Starfield has NOTHING going for it for a return. I actually expect an increase in players with that Fallout tv show releasing soon. How many that increases by depends on how good it is.
Fallout 4 was kind of a big meh when it came out. I got a refund and wrote it off Bethesda becoming shittier, just like all the other companies.
Is it actually worth playing these days?
You can tell the choice to have a voiced protagonist fucked them over because there are HUGE indications of a lot more choices being available but cut off due to no dialogue for it (having an ending with most fractions alive to quest lines unexplored)
A lot of the mods simply open up areas that were left barren from expanding settlement areas both default with the game to dlc with Mechanist's lair to making the Minutemen a VIABLE faction as they are weaker than the Railroad in terms of firepower.
Difference between Fallout 4 and Starfield is Fallout 4 is a house with solid foundations but only half constructed so needs more work.
Starfield, the foundations are cracked and the supports were put in incorrectly..
Pretend it's not a Fallout game but just a post apocalyptic shooter in a weird setting. Load up with mods like Horizon.
The Frost mod is outstanding post-apocalyptic fun, though extremely brutal.
I didn't hear about this. What happened?
They've been banning mods that replace some of the generic characters with hot women or are not the same ideology as ESG
It's been happening with a lot of current games (biggest example was Spider-Man 2 and a mod to replace pride flags with American flags). The effect is modders no longer want to touch it and sticking to the older games which means less content for newer games.
Oh yeah well, the Nexus has been shit for a while. I thought you meant Bethesda did something directly, which I would not find surprising after their moderators went on unhinged rants on people reviewing the game negatively on Steam.
Wasn't it nexus banning the pro-ESG things?
And I'm pretty sure the modding community wouldn't touch it because of pretty much the reasons in Lethn's comment. It's an overall shit broken game which nobody wants to play.
The other guy was talking about Nexus, but I've heard Bethesda also changed something stupid. Apparently whatever they changed to make the procedural generation of planets work, also drastically changed how the file structure worked. As a result, it's likely going to be impossible to make any substantial mods to Starfield. Just basic bitch stuff like reskins and new models, so of course Nexus is banning any that defy DEI and ESG faggotry.
Oof. Given Bethesda's history, I get the feeling the change they fucked up probably wasn't even intentional lol. That being said, if the Skyrim modding community is any indication, they will have some crazy script extender to allow all kinds of crazy nonsense within a year or so and the file structure will stop being as much of an issue somehow.
We won't know for sure until Bethesda officially releases modding tools. I'm betting they'll still fuck that up, by trying to include and EULA making allowing them to sell it mandatory.
That fallout tv show looks and sounds bad. I dont know why modern tv has to have the characters talk so much. There isnt much using visual objects, music, camera angles and etc to convey information.
I get the impression from the way they are marketing the Ghoul character he's a bit of a Hancock knockoff because he was one of the most popular companions in that game.
I'd LIKE to be wrong and for it to be good, I'll give it a watch and if I can make it through then it was at least decent.
If I drop it before ep 2 then it was terrible, it at least isn't Halo or Rings of Power where I'd watch grass grow over watching that. This is more first season of Witcher territory.
But the first season of Witcher was blasphemy? why torment yourself? If you need entertainment go to the source materials in this era.
Would be even funnier if everyone forgot it even existed. Come on, now. No one needs to be reminded of Starwhatever.
I honestly think that 9k is pretty surprisingly good for Starfield at this point, thats only on Steam, not including consoles, so lets add like 15 people to the number for Xbox and you get a pretty good estimate.
Considering how mediocre and repetitive and small the game is (in comparison to how large they made it seem), I think that most people would drop it within a week or so, so 9k people still playing kind of seems like a win for Todd at this point.
The fact that No Mans Sky is like ten years old and has never charged for any content, and is still going strong is what's really impressive.
I actually think (despite not playing it myself) that they have had one of the best redemption stories since FF14, and I really like to see it myself. Not giving up on the project, making things better, and improving things for the people that actually like it as well as garnering new fans, are all great things in my opinion.
Probably much easier with a smaller team or its a passion ptoject. Gonna assume they have a small team of 20 to 60 people. Not 1200 peole that larger AAA studios have (where 80% of the people are useless).
I think it was 12 people or something but yeah somewhere around there.
They must clear profit on every free update and expedition. It's a good model.
Despite how fucked the release was honestly kudos to Sean Murray for making it right.
Ive been monitoring player count numbers since starfield's release. Aside from first 1 month.. skyrim legendary and remaster combined gets about 4x the player count of starfield. Fallout 4 is 2x the player count.
With thousands of planets.. people sure gave up quick on exploring barren ass planets with nothing to do.
Yea I have seen various posts and checked player count myself randomly on different things - that new dogshit Suicide Squad game being a recent one.
I am fascinated by the counts, by what keeps people playing old games. I am a dota 2 player and was just laughing with my friends about it being so old now with so little changed, but still very fun for us after going on 20 years now since dota 1.
But the people still playing older games really applies to me and others I know, we are rarely excited for a new game, and often disappointed in them if we were excited.
I play mostly older games games too. Like almost all games are pre 2020. Probably 2010-2016.
I got 6000 hrs in skyrim and 3600 hours in fallout 4.
I stopped starfield at 120 hours. I felt like a retard and angry for buying the delux edition for early access. Reason?? I do youtube videos.
Modding will not save this game. Most of the mod makers i talk to (probably 66%) express little to no interest in modding starfield, even when the creation kit comes out.
Fo4 was mid, fo76 was shit, starfield is dog shit.. elderscroll 6 = ????.
Would I be correct to guess that you don't want to identify your channel here?
FO4 is fun if you simply disregard the setting and simply use it as an apocalypse sandbox shooter that you transform with mods. It's an utterly terrible Fallout game.
Yep. I didnt give a shit about my baby.. sean or shawn or whatever. I just beat the game once and just modded it the rest. I have like 1300 mods downloaded over the years. Just fucking around recording footage for videos.
Hot take: no Bethesda game was ever good.
Weren't they planning dlc for that garbage game? Something to fill in the vast emptiness of gameplay that somehow had less happening than fallout 4?
To be fair Starfield may be accurate. Space is probably really boring. Most rocky planets and moons in our solar system are airless dead gray rocks. Even Mars doesn't have a lot going for it except it's dead red rocks.
Accurate except for all the sleeping bags out in an atmosphereless planetoid and civilization (hangars, mines, factories) pretty much everywhere. The sad thing is starfield had a better radiant quest system than fallout 4 does (the bounty board is just so much better). Shame they ruined that by making NG+ destroy all your work and dungeons being repetitive.
