Tiktok is just the window to the larger disease that has infected the west.
In fact, I'd rather keep it as is as a lot of these perverts and pedos self report themselves on there for attention!
I'm guessing the establishment saw how much losing Twitter actually shifted the narrative away from them so are hoping to use Tiktok as the Trojan horse to later control Internet access.
The problem is that they are not getting punished for it. Hell, the current judicial system and presidential administration actively protect them.

essentially, it seems like the US government is using the tiktok ban as a way to shoe horn in legislation that allows the government to ban websites they deem in national security threat. with this legislation passed and properly enforced, this would build a great firewall around the United States.

banning the chinese from operating in this country in any capacity is good, but they WILL use this wedge in the door to fuck us.
Except that this time they're fear-mongering about CHY-NA instead of Bad Net Pirates, which seems to be much more effective.
All Chinese software should be banned until American software developers are allowed open access to the Chinese market.

tik tok itself is the excuse being used to push this legislation. it has little to do with the app itself.
There wil be no SOPA because tech companies are one and the same with the establishment now. Back then tech companies were rebels who flew pirate flags and warrant canaries.
and this legislation would root the established tech companies. any internet Wild West would now be subject to purging by the US government.
The bill defines "foreign adversary controlled website" as something that can be regulated by the US government. this would give the US government the power to arbitrarily limit and censor almost any website if they claim it is connected to a foreign adversary.
Now think about how many items the US government have claimed have been Russian disinformation.
In effect, establishes a great firewall potentially identical to china.
