I had figured this by the time he had started calling her 'Birdbrain', but on the other hand, his appointments have been terrible.
Hopefully, this will relieve some of the worries that some people here have about Birdbrain becoming VP and then Trump either dying or being helped to die.
This doesn't really defeat your point because 3 of those are strong DeSantis supporters, and this has been DeSantis propaganda for a while. "MAGA's gonna get over Nikki Haley if I tell them to get over Nikki Haley" is probably one of the strongest misreads of the MAGA movement I've seen.
HOWEVER, if it is not merely a propaganda effort to allege Nikki Haley, there is clearly an effort to push Nikki Haley.
You know... it might be interesting if he decided to take Sarah Palin. I was never a fan of hers, but she has a lot of die hard fans in the Conservative sphere.
Tina Fey did such a good job character assassinating her that normies now have no idea what she actually said, and what was said by Fey when she was making sketches dressed as her. Palin was wise to step away from politics when she did, after failing to make a clear distinction between the real her and the parodies of her during the McCain presidential attempt.
Robert Barnes' call seems pretty likely to me: Ben Carson.
Ben was already in the administration, he is a dedicated Trump loyalist, he never caused any issue, he's been campaigning hard for him, and he's probably going to be a physical rejection of "Drumpf is racist" attacks on the media. He's also a staunch cultural conservative. I've literally heard him explain to college students that the patriarchy is good and should return.
I don't think that Vivek is a Neo-Lib confederate like Styx is, and that his refusal to attack Trump is merely an attempt to secure the VP seat anyway. But I'm not convinced that Trump trusts him enough. I certainly don't think that Trump wants to share the spotlight with him. Ben Carson, never took the spotlight away from Trump.
First time I've really considered it, but I would really like that pick. A lot of people seem pretty convinced he will take a woman though. I've been very busy and unable to follow things closely for the past few months so I'm not sure whether orange man has made statements to back that up.
I think they're arguing that he wants to pick a woman because he's weak with women, and that's not really true. He's stronger than basically all other republicans on women. What he lost in 2020 was white suburban women, but that demographic has been swinging Democratic for 20 years. He still won more of than than other Republicans. The issue is that white, suburban, women are simply just more Leftist ideologically. So, he's basically drawing blood from a stone, already. He can't win any more white suburban women until more conservatives move to the suburbs, or more lefty women get married and become conservative.
Force of habit from dealing with normies and irregularity deniers.
Still waiting for an explanation of how 125% turnout happens.
While there were obvious problems, nobody can really argue that Joe Biden didn't get at least 70 million votes. Those numbers still matter for the purpose of analysis.
nobody can really argue that Joe Biden didn't get at least 70 million votes
Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. Unfortunately, the entire process was so lacking in credibility and oversight that we'll never know.
If I had to speculate, I'd guess less than 60 million votes. The man didn't campaign and when he did they were sparsely attended. (Yes, Covid, I know. And Democrats really were scared to death of it, I know.) He wasn't even leading in the primaries until all of his competition magically simultaneously quit and endorsed him.
Yes, I know a lot of people hated Trump, but I don't think it was that many. I can't tell you how many people I've talked to over the past few years that have said things along the lines of, "I thought I was a Democrat but they're just mean and insane now." I've talked with zero people who went the other way.
I haven't met anyone going the other way either, but I've met tons of people who think loony level shit. Including claims like "The Heritage Foundation opposes race mixing", "Jordan Peterson is a raging homophobe", "Republicans just like going to drag shows and harassing the dancers", "There were no BLM riots", and "There is no anti-white sentiment in any institution."
Remember, many people still think CNN is a moderate news cite; and NPR is highly reliable.
I know what I believe is true, but it's because I dug so far down the rabbit hole I found it. Everyone else is living on a mountain of lies.
I don't think MTG would hurt his chances. She's not the sharpest knife, but she's smarter and more articulate than most Dems, she has decent anti-establishment cred with none of DeSantis' baggage, the MAGA base like her and she'll dramatically decrease the chances of Trump "dying suddenly" if he's elected. If he ran Haley as a VP, she'd end up president in six months.
She's been incredibly demonized, and she makes it somewhat easy to demonize her. I think she'd hurt with swing voters in a way Kari Lake or even Vivek would not.
Ideally, I'd like Rand Paul. They'd be praying to Satan for Trump's health.
Rand Paul would be perfect, but he's made it pretty clear he wants to pick a woman for VP. Which pisses me off from the get-go, but if it's going to be a woman, it should be MTG or someone else who's there just to antagonize the left. He flat-out said in his Iowa victory speech that he thinks Kari Lake is going to be an Arizona Senator someday, which indicates that he's not going to pick her. I think Kristi Noem might be good, if she'd take it.
The problem is that, as much as I like Trump, he's too much of a megalomaniac to pick anyone who could compete with him. That's how we ended up with Pence last time: because the guy's an empty suit. Kari Lake is too smart, too charismatic and too media savvy, and so are most of the other based candidates.
I'm not sure I agree with that now that it is his second term. I think he wants to maximize chances of winning. This could lead to him choosing a less based person, but if he thinks Lake or someone else maximizes his chances he would pick them.
Even beyond smart, I think she's too independently minded. You are probably correct. Trump is used to people doing his bidding as in a business, he has difficulty co-operating with people.
Pence was picked to get evangelicals and natsecs on board. I think it was a good choice at the time.
I had figured this by the time he had started calling her 'Birdbrain', but on the other hand, his appointments have been terrible.
Hopefully, this will relieve some of the worries that some people here have about Birdbrain becoming VP and then Trump either dying or being helped to die.
I get the feeling that Pence burned enough bridges that he'd be unlikely to make a similar mistake.
Anybody who thought there was even a 1% chance he was going to pick Haley was very, very dumb.
Here is Dave Rubin, Kayleigh McEnany, Charlie Kirk, and Megyn Kelly all basically arguing that there is a very high likelihood of her getting selected.

Half of those people are very dumb.
"This doesn't really defeat your point because 3 of those are strong DeSantis supporters"
Oh, I didn't remember what his point was. I just wanted to take the opportunity to call them dumb.
Well you're still right.
I never thought that, but I wouldn't say that. Trump's appointments have always been rather bad. Four years ago he chose a neocon.
Now he's older though, and it's more important that it not be a loon.
The Kushners are married into Trump's family
I mean if we really needed a woman to be his VP, could we get his former white house press secretary, the one with a folder each press meeting.
She could just use the entire time pointing out how shit everyone who challenges Trump is.
Kayleigh McEnany just basically insinuated that Nikki would be a good choice for VP. So, imma cross her off the list of people I want as VP.
Dammit, I would've liked her back making the press her bitch for being shit.
Wait, remembering their opinions, they actually might like that...
it's weird rape fantasies all the way down.

I still don't understand why we're taking the results of an obviously bullshit contest as indicative of anything.

Maybe they would be wasted in a VP role, but were they wasted in his HUD position?
I'd bet Ben wouldn't mind, and Trump could use a loyalist.
I want it to be MTG just to watch the leftist meltdown.
I'd rather it be someone whom they hate just as much, but who would not hurt his chances as much.
Kristi Noem is a corporate whore. Probably the worst choice after the Birdbrain.
Tim Scott and Elise Stefanik are also pretty awful.

You'd think he'd have learned his lesson from the crowd response he got when he said the next Supreme Court justice should be a woman.
Rand is too important as a Senator to be useful as VP. I'd rather see President Rand some day but I doubt that'll ever happen.
We're gonna need more allies in the House of representatives because if Republicans don't get a majority, he'll be impeached 4, maybe 6 times.
So, lets just keep MTG in place.
haley is a foreigner and should not be anywhere near government
