As I was playing modded Skyrim the other day I was remembering how at one time I thought how epic it would be if it was made into a movie. Definitely not not anymore. If made today, how do you think they would butcher it? Obviously the main character would be female and the Dunmer in Windhelm would be the focus of the story.
I still think it would be cool if a great fantasy author wrote a 12 book series about the history of Tamriel or a series on the adventures of past Dragonborns or Morrowind. So many possibilities
I thought I was reading a summary on Prime or Netflix. I used to be interested in the possibility of a Redguard /Dawnstar game. Rumor is ES6 will be there so I really hope they won’t inject sjw garbage into the game and realize that ES6 is highly anticipated so don’t mess it up but the hope gets smaller and smaller.
I do remember a few years ago on one of my gaming forums someone said it made them uncomfortable when they shouted “Skyrim belongs to the Nords”. This was enough years ago that people appropriately told him he was being stupid
So long as Emil is lead writer expect the writing to continue to get worse, yes even worse than starfield.
on the elderscrolls 6 thing i was hoping it would be in black marsh or perhaps elsewhere or however they spelt it, they even had a scrapped project called eye of argonia but it fizzled. i mean we alredy did redguards if i rember right... but it would be funny if they pulled a bait and switch and the story just started there before pulling you off to narnia to meet the dwarves and find a way back being the main plot.
I’d like black marsh since I don’t think we’ve seen. That teaser really doesn’t give you much
I have a couple divergences otherwise I concur with your inclination to invoke the great Hans Landa. As all this woke garbage is never divorced from a huge strike of irony
I don't think dunmer, kajit, or any non human species would even factor. You'd get Maiq the liar for the reference and maybe a quick mention of an argonian maid (again, for the reference) the plot would be about redgaurd being sad and Ulfricks racism against them. This will not clash with your suggestion that the nords would be overly diverse too. (Swap muh racism for muh refugees as necessary)
Further, it's more natural for corporate entities to merge falmer, dunmer, and even crone together as mindless savage beasts and ignore any nuance or history between them. You may get some super wise high elf females. Wood elves will simply cease to exist.
One main character will be a dwemer. Both for reference and because the writers don't know the lore.
And finally I'd say male DB but he will need to sacrifice himself for the glory of omni-capable girl boss Lydia
I know 100% they would find a way to have the Stormcloaks say something to the effect of "Make Skyrim Great Again" and make Ulfric look just a tad bit more orange.
In Rings of Power they presented Numenor as an extremely diverse and multiracial country except for exactly one scene where they had a 100% white crowd at a MAGA rally where a guy was talking about hating elves. It would be at least that hamfisted if not somehow worse.
Yea they wouldn’t be able to resist
I think Elder Scrolls would make a terrible film, regardless of when it's made.
I’d personally rather see a large novel focusing on a specific character or time if they did such a thing
Modded Skyrim is a Christmas tradition for me as well.
The Dunmer will be urban American blacks, who have been forced in to ghettos, not just in Windhelm, but all across Skyrim. Redguards, canonically called Yokudans, will be Wakandan blacks. Yokuda is the ancestral home of the Redguards. It was also home to an extinct Mer race known as the Lefthanded Elves. The Lefthanders and Redguards were always at war with each other. So far, this is all true canonically, minus the total oppression of the Dunmer.
After this is established throw some We Wuz, Black Israelites, Lost Tribe, all that in. All the achievements and advancements made by Mer? Redguards did it first and it was stolen by
whiteyElves. Affinity for magic? Obviously because more melanin = more magic. Why do you think Nords distrust magic? And since we've long given up on caring about lore or being consistent at this point Dunmer are actually Redguards who were stolen from their lands and corrupted by the Children of Yokuda, Altmer or more specifically the Thalmor, who attempted to colonize them and remake them in their own image. They didn't like the results and sent them to ghettos across the Empire. For some reason, all of the Altmer wear clothing reminiscent of mid-century Germans and look like /pol/s ideal Taylor Swift. The Dunmer wear hoodie-cloaks and colorful boots. The Hero's party. It is started by, of course, a female Dunmer with either the current cool version of an afro or braids. She will be a very over powered destruction magic focused character, fire main. She will go on to lead "slave revolts," the writers having no idea how much meme potential this will create. To hasten the revolts she will likely also have a high illusion level to trick all the racist Altmer into saying totally wacky and zany things like, "I recognize my High Elf privilege" "Maybe I should put myself in the cage" and mind-raping them.
She will be joined by a woman Breton. Some femme fatale character. But in a shocking twist! She's actually a lesbian and hates men because she was touched by some hyper religious male family member. They might actually keep this close to lore and have her be a conjurer type character, raising zombies, conjuring weapons, and what not. Or something like a vampire.
Then of course, the Fiery Female Latina, an Argonian. She does underwater graffiti, has wild hair, and talks about heart removal a lot. That's about it. Her accent is turned to 11. She rolls her R's. No one really cares about her but she will show her underwater skills once.
The Gimped Imperial Male Warrior. Thinks he knows everything, incompetent, cowardly, weak, you know the drill. Imperial not being described as a race but a "mindset" of colonialism, some how tied to the Altmer.
The archer character, in a wild move, I can see Faendal being cast as such. Bosmer, a guy, and portrayed as an incel.
The Bad Bitch Girl Boss Orsimer is going to find out her race was descended from the Redguards or not be mentioned at all other than in passing.
So the Yokudans take back their brethren Dunmer, teach them how to become more in touch with their Yokudan roots and ... that's it.
***I'm not going to go into the Khajiit
Wow. I’m scared Netflix could be reading this and will pitch the idea soon.
Whst mods do you like? I’m currently doing random quests after Wyrmstooth but will go back to Bruma soon. I downloaded the mod to give Serana a bunch more dialogue but that kinda makes the game a daying/romance simulator. Can’t wait for that Morrowind mod
lol I hope not. But I feel like satire really can't keep up with reality these days.
Lately I've been trying this out and using googles random number generator for it. I like to use the Alternate Start - Live Another Life and the New Beginnings mod to get a crazy start.
Once I complete a faction I'll mark it off and roll for something else with a new character.
I don't know if you are in to V-Tubers but Silvervale has has this as their modlist and it looks amazing. It makes it a new game but it's still Skyrim, not like Enderal. I've yet to get it set up like they do but it's worth checking out their old streams to see it.
Thanks! I’m considering doing a total restart as live another life and like being a simple farmer who will do odd jobs for money
If you are going to do a new character you should check out Ordinator and Apocalypse mods. Ordinator completely changes the skill tree and lets you specialize each skill. Apocalypse adds a lot of unique spells. If you want to know more search "Enai mods" They all complement each other.
Cool thing about Live Another Life is there is an option to start off as a hunter in the forest. You start with a tent, a bow, and a hatchet. It's pretty close to being a farmer.
There is also a random option, which with Skyrim Roulette, leads to interesting stories. I rolled a Bosmer Knight who woke up in Old Hroldan Inn and had to complete the Thieves' Guild line. Being a knight I couldn't use magic or light armor so stealth was out. It was a fun run.
ESO has already started assfucking the lore on the racial front. A core feature of the TES races (and a deeply-embedded excuse for having races as a game mechanic) is that they can't hybridize - The mother's race determines the child's. This isn't just a biological reality either, it's a mythic one. The races are subdivisions of higher powers dating back to the creation of the mortal realm, and arguably from different realms entirely.
Then ESO decided a bunch of the NPCs were mixed race and that was that. The ESO lore is at least partially written by redditors (seriously), and they've had their panties in a bunch over the racial essentialism of the series for a decade now. It undermines basically all of the series' interesting metaphysics, but hey, at least a bunch of faggots don't think it's icky.
The part I love about the Elder Scrolls series is that it's unreliable as all fuck, and the wise writer leans into that heavily.
Supposedly, the Bretons are all descended from a human-free-use Elven society(no, I'm not kidding) that constantly bred with their human slaves to the point where the two hybridized, so it's... technically possible?
Unless it's all lies, of course. In the Elder Scrolls, we have atleast 3 different sources for where the general races of man could have come from. Fun fact, the Redguard aren't included in any of those tales and are instead invaders from another continent entirely...
I always point to the Bretons as a great example of how race is TES is so real that interbreeding can't create a new race. The Ayleids boned these manlets for centuries, and they're still manlets. Literally, they're still men, they have nothing in common with their Ayleid ancestors. In theory, I think the only way to actually create a new race is to use TES's equivalent of deep magic to "retcon" it into existence, similar to how Auriel was divided - Ethnogenesis as a ritual.
Well I’m glad I gave up on ESO years ago. They could’ve just started working on ES6 but they thought that was a better option
Is that also true of the human races? A redguard mating with a Nord or a Breton will result in a child showing traits of the mother alone? What about skin colour?
In most stories, humans are usually derived from a single group of individuals traveling and colonizing various areas of the world, and their regional differences are linked to adaptations to their surroundings. Warhammer is an example of that. Is TES' lore actually saying that there are clear ancestral and immutable distinctions between races of humans?
Almost always, yes, a Redguard mother and a Nord father would result in a Redguard child. The child obviously gets some traits from the father, which can include skin and hair, but the overall trend is towards the racial standard. There's a handful of exceptions, but they all predate the lore revamp in the Redguard/Battlespire/Morrowind era.
The Bretons are the clearest example of race essentialism in TES. The Ayleids almost certainly looked like Altmer (if they weren't just Altmer outright), and the Bretons were just tribals they took as slaves. They intermixed for generations, but all Breton are still short, still have round ears, and do not have yellow skin or sharp eyes.
To make a very long story very short, yes, the races you see in TES are all functionally distinct classes of life. It's unclear at what point the mannish precursor spirits became the races of men (and fundamentally unanswerable for reasons far too complex for a short answer), but they definitely do descend from distinct spiritual/mythic forces. If you dig deep enough, the Atmorans and Yokudans (Nords and Redguards) might literally be aliens not only to each other, but to Nirn as well.
I'm leaving a lot out here, but you get the picture.
I refuse to believe you're not making this up.
There's a Cyrod-Redguard (of course) NPC who complains that her Cyrod counterparts were trying to shove her into a "neat little box" or something to that effect. She was one of the big story NPCs whenever Elsweyr came out, I believe.
The most shocking thing to me is that they made her half-Cyrod, when they could have made her half-Nord and had her complain about Nord racism as a way to publicly humiliate Stormcloak fans. Probably a lack of intelligence rather than lack of vindictiveness. ESO writers aren't exactly winners of the genetic lottery.
I think Vivec is also referred to with neopronouns somewhere, but I can't find any reference to it now. Maybe it was removed, or maybe nobody played enough of the Morrowind expansion for anyone to notice. It's definitely a thing among the more faggy lore fans, though they try to keep it under wraps because Vivec being the god-tranny for representation makes trannies look like monsters.
It hadn't occurred to me until just now that troons would refer to Vivec with nonbinary they, but the UESP wiki hasn't been subverted so it must only be the really militant ones doing it.
What sucks is you could have an interesting game in Hammerfell if they ignore the kind of people you are talking about. I liked the Redguard woman quest. It’s interesting how that quest has no definitive right answer. I hope you are wrong about ES6 but everything is pointing to them going crazy with the message
The guys who grew up with Flash Gordon and Gunsmoke gave us Star Wars and Star Trek, the guys who grew up on Star Wars/Trek just gave us worse derivatives.
I’ve been diving deeper into anime and manga and heck, I’ll read an old Superman comic or something and it’s so refreshing to see masculine men being heroic or feminine women who work with men to achieve something
I was flicking channels today and Teen Titans was on one channel - I listened for 5 seconds before throwing up. THey'd made on of the characters a 'free-thinker' - then poured shit on him as a flat-earther. In a kids cartoon FFS!
Teen Titans or Teen Titans Go?
I have no Idea.
Imagine if instead of Cyborg they would’ve had Jon Stewart green lantern in the Justice League movie? Obviously they wanted one black super hero on the team so why not pick the one that is well liked by a generation of us who watched the cartoon. Dumb dumb dumb. I’m currently going through Batman the Animated series
I just want to post that I'm extremely happy to see other people here play Skyrim during the winter months, too. As soon as I get that first whiff of chilly air my blood burns hot and I feel a yearning to go hiking into the mountains. I have an ancient iPod shuffle from 2006 with just Skyrim ambient music on it, and I use it to go on those long walks with the most fitting soundtrack in the world. Skyrim belongs to the Nords.
Wait till you find out that Scandinavians identify with Nords
https://youtu.be/hnXD6FRZtn0
Also I love that! Downloaded it
I assumed Nords were based on Scandinavians. I guess that makes me a bad man when they create the diverse Nords
A friend of mine dated an African Swede who was living in Arizona. Bit of a pompous dick. I couldn't tell if he was compensating or just absorbing Sweden wrong.
As much as I love Skyrim, give me unlimited money and dictatorial control and I'd be making a Morrowind movie/series, instead.
Mostly so I could watch people twist themselves up in excuses over how the dark-skinned elven race is a bunch of religious zealots with accepted political tradition of assassination whom practice slavery despite it being outlawed by the wider empire as a whole, and who's entire plot basically revolves around the roman empire-expy using religious prophecy to bring all these crazy fuckers to heel.
Oh, and, possibly save the world, as well. That's important.
Yeah, I know. They wouldn't care. I'd still have alot of fun with it, though.
Stay faithful to the lore and you’d get my money. I need to download Morrrowind. Also there is a Morrowind mod coming for Skyrim
The lore is the best part!
Modded Morrowind is the best way to play Morrowind. It's an odd beast of a game in terms of mechanics that basically begs you up, down, and sideways to break the game horribly in the most creative fashion possible.
As much as I love Skyrim, you don't really get that in Elder Scrolls 5.
Nah I'm happier with DLC as because of the interactive element it makes it harder to be woke unless the game is woke from the ground up.
Making a movie/show removes that interaction and makes it easier to guide the viewer down a forced leftist ideological path.
Speaking of DLC I remember hearing about one that would take you to Hammerfell but they dropped it to work on the next project. Also they never let you do the moot. I’m happy with mods because they would butcher any sort of movie.
Heard that but we got Dark Elves instead so not that mad
I love Solstheim. The dlc to build a house was fine but I wish it allowed you to build a village with all the land there is
Thanks to how popular Fallout 4 abd their settlement building is, I don't doubt that will be in the next Elder Scrolls too
I just wish there was a mechanic to take over places like vaults or bandit camps than have them as endless dungeons for missions.
Agreed or be able to avoid fighting bandits or hire bandits to guard your settlements
Just cast the whole Skarsgard family as the leads and we're good. .... Lol that's not going to happen is it?
No but it makes sense. Could be so cool.

https://www.imdb.com/list/ls025476538/
They'll just name it... The Redguard lol
